In a manic fit, I thought I was immune to needing sleep and so just didn't sleep last night. I'm going on 36 hours and oh god why... My brain feels like it's short circuting. can't sleep yet. at school function.

Typically while Manic there is no way to "force your body" to rest.

I may have missed something but did you get ahold of your T so then your T can talk to YOUR pdoc? ( I'm sorry thats a jacked up system and I doubt its even legal)

I would think if you are taking your Zyprexa you should be getting some relief and rest.

Have you been able to get in touch with your pdoc? I'm sure he/she would fit you in given the situation.

Have you tried turning off all electronics when you attempt to sleep? Sometimes using a face mask to shut out light and deep breathing can help calm your mind.

If your taking the zyprexa you should try and lay down 30 minutes after taking it and turn everything off. Maybe listen to music on an pod (something relaxing) and breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Problem is I didn't attempt sleep last night because I thought I was awesome and immune to the effects of sleep deprivation. Now tha tI have a little better grasp of myself, my body sill wants to stay up, but my brain can't decide, and I just want some sleep to pass the time.

I'm kind of confused. Are you unable to get to your dorm room to sleep? I know it is Thirsty Thursday right now, but if you're sleep deprived then you should *attempt* to sleep. Socializing can be put aside for a night. Your body is going to want to stay up, but you are making it evident that you're feeling tired too. I am sure that taking your prescribed medication, TURNING OFF all electronics except music (if that helps you sleep) and deep breathing will help you relax and get you into a mindset of "sleep now".

I know from experience that if I keep the laptop within arms reach I will NOT sleep and I will stay on it all night. Sometimes my boyfriend will come home and he'll take the computer away from me and make me lie down. Usually this does the trick and I'm asleep within 30 minutes.

I'm pretty sleep deprived atm, too. I was at work for 10 hours and woke up early to do laundry then go back to work for nearly 6 hours then went to a game store and just got back to the house...>_> I should take my own advice and lay down!

We have a rule in our house. No matter what we have to set an alarm and stay in bed with the lights off for 8 hrs. You can do whatever you want but you are confined to the bed for 8 hrs without electronics and light. My son has leeway being so young he gets to keep the lights and have a print chapter book.

Yeah... that happens sometimes. Stay up for 2-3 days, sleep for 24hours. Repeat.

All you can do is try again. Good luck.

I hope you're getting some sleep today. I like MMs suggestion of making a rule that you have to be in bed with the lights off and electronics off. Sometimes even if you can't sleep, taking that time to just lay down might be helpful.
