I've decided, for my own well being, I need to do something today and not lie around and go back to sleep like I really want to. I don't really have a whole lot of motivation, but I am angry for feeling depressed, which I guess is close enough for now.

Any ideas for things to do to kick this depression in the face? I don't really have that much creativity at the moment.

Also, I'm probably gonna end up self-medicating with a crapton of caffeine because it makes me at least functional. I'm glad I found that out, at least.

Reading? I love reading. It gets my mind off things.

What about going for a walk?

Or playing a game?

Oooh - clean!! That's productive and it uses energy AND it doesn't require any creativity!

Go for a walk. The exercise helps depression. Watch DVDs.

I like the idea of going for a walk, its too warm here for that though. I would take a nice long shower and maybe just sit outside for a while and enjoy nature.

I know how you feel about the caffeine too. I could use a nice iced coffee right now!

Don't permit yourself to look at images that cause distress or that are negative which can feed depression. Don't listen to depressing music or read or concern yourself with negative
writing. Turn off the t.v. the moment you get an image or an analysis that is negative or distressing to your mind. If that doesn't help very much, picture a broom in your brain just sweeping everything out, even in the remote corners leaving no dust (negativism) anywhere in the site until you feel free and clean inside.

Negativism is a loading for depression.

By late afternoon if the negative images try to seep back into your brain, just stop
and sit down. Read articles in little meditative books that are uplifting and are positive in thought. Once you feel you have conquered the negative things for that one day, then relax.
Sleep well that night. It is a daily effort to keep negativism away from that portion of
the brain that feeds on it.

It might help you if you try "the lemon thing" I talk about so much; it works for some of us.

Hoping you get better feeling tone through trying some different things. Suggesting
that you "kick the depression in the face" is a good idea.

Genetic...I tried the "lemon thing" and it works, no doubt. Just makes me feel better! So Comic I would add to the list organize one small area in your room that has been annoying you. If you do one small area you may feel more accomplished and hopeful and feel more motivated on future days. I hope the depression clouds part leaving you with sunshine, if even just for a bit!

When I make up the bed I feel like I have started the day off to a good start. I have had to force myself to walk and I totally felt better afterwards. It's harder to think about going for a walk than to actually take a walk! Showers are good also. And shopping for something small but personal. I also like to read but that can get sedentary. I would have to agree with everyone else... A walk in the sunshine sounds like a depression crusher.

So far I've cleaned the kitchen some and gone through my clothes to see what I don't wear so I can give it away. I'm exhausted.

I just helped a friend of mine start painting her fence. We primed the outside. Her husband was excited as he got out of doing that and was able to do something else - and I was thrilled to be doing something productive outside!

Being productive is such a nice feeling. Shame that it's the sort of thing that goes out the window when we're feeling rubbish!

Congrats on the clean kitchen

Chesire cat, I've posted so much on this that I will finally post a thread on
it in the next few minutes. You might want to look for it: I'll call it "The Lemon Thing" and then everybody who wants to know about it can refer to it from time to time.

Thank your for your interest in it. It works for some of us.

Comic...way to go with all the kitchen cleaning and closet sorting! I am trying to take your lead on that, but i just end up staring at the giant pile of laundry that i need to put away haha.

Hey CheshireCatGrin, to answer your question...I read on here that the "Lemon thing" is just a glass of water with the juice of a lemon squeezed in it. It is suppose to be very neutralizing to the body since so many people are acidic due to many factors (one being meds). Now, I am just repeating what I remember reading...this is not information that I know first hand. I think you are suppose to drink a "lemon thing" and then have another in 4 hours if you are still feeling down. I put my lemon into my morning green juice and it really makes me feel decent (good is too much of a stretch since i hate mornings : ).
