I've been on Seroquel for a couple of months now. It truly is the queen of sleep. Except...

For the last two nights, I have been completely unable to sleep. I have pieces of songs running through my head, my feet are tapping out a rhythm, and I can't seem to get my mind to slow down and my body to relax. Last night I finally took a Klonopin and even then it took close to an hour to get some sleep. The big problem is that I still have the Seroquel hangover in the morning. Today I got up at 9 and fell back to sleep from 10 until noon.

I've been feeling pretty good lately, really up from where I was, so maybe I'm starting into a manic phase, but I still don't know why the Seroquel doesn't just knock me out.

My p-doc said that Seroquel loses effectiveness. Then the dosage needs to be upped... and a slippery slope starts.
Call the pdoc - maybe indeed you are on your way to a manic phase.

Seroquel, ahhhh. I have been on it for about 8 years at various dosages.

I love it and hate it. Yes it almost always helps me sleep, but at times the dose had to be upped.

I have gained 90 pds on it. I take Metformin to protect me from getting diabetes from it. In the morning I take Nuvigil to get rid of the fog.

I had finally weaned of it in December and was starting to loss weight and feel good. Then my only child died on1/3/13 and I went back on it. UGH

Earlier this week I was having a very hard time, my PDOC said to take 600mg at night. It was horrible, I had restless legs, I tossed and turned. It was like it had the opposite affect.

I am starting to wean off it again. For me if you have to take two other meds to counteract another meds side effects than there must another answer.

I am DONE with seroquel ! And here is to finally losing weight

I agree I hated that med. I gained 10 lbs, had constant panic attacks when I was awake. It knocked me out most of the time.
Y do doctors prescribe meds that cause other health problems?? I think I could be a better doctor than the ones I've been to.

You're not on Seroquel strictly for sleep, are you?

There are other options to help you sleep. Melatonin, Trazadone, sleeping pills....etc.

I still have nights that I have more trouble falling asleep, too. I wouldn't be too worried unless it continues and continues. Everyone has their up and downs when it comes to sleep. Sometimes this is a sign I'm going into a hypomania/anxiety phase.

[Been on Seroquel for years.]

I've been on seroquel for several years, they have raised my dose then lowered it at one time I was taking 1200mg. I agree it's a love hate relationship, it's helped a lot but sometimes like speed3 said I get restless leg and can't sit still. Eventually I pass out. All meds have side effects though and can cause other health problems but if u read anything about side effects on medications they say your dr will decide if the benefits out weigh the risk. I'd talk to your dr if you continue not to sleep.
