I've noticed quite a few people here have both bpd and bipolar, so I looked into what bpd is. After reading about it I realized that I most likely have it too. My significant other always told me that I seem to have bipolar all the time, but I didn't think so since mania doesn't happen everyday. I felt relieved knowing that I wasn't just over sensitive and that other people experience the same thing. I didn't know that this was considered a personality disorder. I don't know how this could get diagnosed and what the steps are. Also, how did you manage your symptoms? I made a post on the autism forum since I thought my anger was from my ASD.

Generally, bipolar moods are episodic (periods of depression, periods of hypo/mania, but also periods of 'normal'/baseline in-between, even if you're rapid cycling) , not a daily kind of thing. But you have *a lot* going on/a lot of diagnoses, so I can imagine that it would be hard to differentiate what's going on at any given time; it must be so hard having so much on your plate.

It might be a good idea to bring in a list of the criteria/traits to your next pdoc appointment and go over them with him/her and discuss to what extent you might be suffering with this. I think it's important because there are certain kinds of psychotherapy targeted to this disorder that seem to have a good track-record. You have a lot to contend with --best of luck!
Thanks for this!

Me too, lots of people have that particularly dreaded duo.

I struggle so hard and the BPD makes me question everything I have felt EVER. Plus I am completely alone in the world which is no surprise really.

Get some help and some professional guidance and good luck x

I told my significant other that too. I told him bipolar is a periodical cycle that changes generally with the seasons, not an everyday occurrence. It is hard to differentiate what's going on quite often and it can be quite difficult. I'm doing better this year than I have compared to the previous years since I've been going tot therapy and started to be healthier.

Thank you everyone for your time and I will discuss this with my therapist. Bringing a list of the traits/criteria will be very helpful and hopefully I get the help I need, I head DBT helps a lot with dpd.

Just for the record, bipolar disorder moods don't necessarily change with the seasons -they don't, intrinsically, have anything to do with it. That said, *some* people's episodes are affected by the seasons -maybe that's the case with you.

I do not have the duo per say, but i do have rapid mood swings that resemble bipolar but occur much more frequently and doesn't last any where as long as bipolar. I can experience the whole spectrum, even hypomania in one day. From totaly depression can't get out of bed, total apathy to extremely elevated euphoria and even some times grandiosity. Mostly I get stuck the longest on anger and anxiety, lasting hours at a time each or cycling back and forth. What I really do not like is when I do feel totally elevated it scares me because I know the higher I feel, the harder the fall will be when it ends. I was originally diagnosed with bipolar II but obviously what I have is not bipolar. I have a personality disorder that resembles bipolar but is set off by triggers.

So far I've noticed most of my mania, psychosis, and hypomania happen at certain seasons/times. I'm not sure what exactly triggers them, but I do know that the cold temperature of winter is my worst nightmare. I meant to say that the seasonal changes happen to me. I'm sure I have other triggers too like too much stress, but I don't know what they all are.
