My doc says they can't hurt & maybe will help with moods. I take them both plus B-12 due to having pernicious anemia which can cause depression & fatigue & confusion. A blood test revealed this deficiency.--Suzy

I have been taking the recommended RDA of 1000mg a day Omega 3 oil and it helps with my bad knee joints as well. I am on Depakote 1000mg a day and Zoloft 50mg. I can't see how it would affect your meds at all and in fact I thought anything like good vits will help.

If you are worried though I would speak to your doc about it - must do the same really!

Hi I am taking omega 3's 2x a day. I also take b-100's. I was on various meds celexa, serequel. But I was so lethagic and non functioning. Everything was a mess in my house and I was tired all the time. I just wanted to sleep else I felt agitated. I wasn't interested in anything.
I seem to be doing good so far. I had noticed several different times when I couldn't function that I did better once I took the B's. Last month I ran out and was just on omega 3's and vitamins, calcium and magnegium. I was getting depressed again. My Bf notices a lot and asked if I was out of B's. I was and got back on them. I am doing much better. BUT i do have trouble sleeping that is ongoing. I was taking valerian and it really helped for sleep but I one of the posters mentioned that it can trigger a depression again. and I had noticed that I was slipping. So I am not taking them regular but am trying to use them if I think I have gone too many nights without sleep. The thing is although I don't feel particularly manic I am getting things done and it feels good but I am watching for signs of depression.Reading some of the posts here is making me cautious in case of crashing. If I feel a bit out of sorts I am trying to walk until I am calmer or take a bath to make me sleepier. Its hard to tell. I am trying to stay very balanced in all things. I'd rather this than to be numbed out all the time. I do watch my meals for low blood sugar and winter is coming so I need to be aware of sads and the need for sunshine.I don't know if this helps. Maybe at some point I will have to have a stronger drug but I don't like all the side effects and unknowns the drug companies don't want to tell us about.

At www.mountainroseherbs.com you can purchase one gallon of natural hempseed oil for about 99.00 for a gallon. If you take about one eight to one quarter cup a day with you applejuice or o.j. it will greatly benefit your health. It will cost you less by bulk purchasing it and the gallon will last almost one year. I not only got healthy but was able to get less joint pain, depressive mania, and to boot, it caused me to weigh less eating the same meals i ate before. Never underestimate the power of shared information about mental health discoveries. I can't see anything bad in doing what you can. The cost of better functioning is worth the time money and effort Hempseed oil will not get you high because they take out any illegal agents that cuase that and the oil itself is the best of all the oils, such as flax, borage, primrose etc. I hope you will. Borage oil,and the Omega-3's are great for both physical and mental health. Benefits of Omega 3 and Vitamin B??
But if we have been truly DXed, we should still stick with the meds the pdoc urges us too, together, with pdoc's approval of med compatibility of both can really work wonders. I take my pills and "the oils", and things are good.
Just my 2 cents. Benefits of Omega 3 and Vitamin B??

Yes, trying to stay with the Dx and also taking the medicianicals are a great proposition. Yes, it is worthwhile and I have permission andd agree that with his permission all can work togeher with his permission, but it is going better. I haven't gained as much weight with the oils included. That is weird (cause you would think "oil" "fattening" but it doesn't work that way, actually it is opposite and I am so so glad. Wow.

vitamin benefit is very powerful for human body.Referred to as vitamin B complex, the eight B vitamins — B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12 — play an important role in keeping our bodies running like well-oiled machines. These essential nutrients help convert our food into fuel, allowing us to stay energized throughout the day. While many of the following vitamins work in tandem, each has its own specific benefits — from promoting healthy skin and hair to preventing migraine

I am bipolar II, and I take 300 mg Lamictal and 10 mg Escitalopram. I recently had bloodtests done, and it was discovered that I was very deficient in B12 and iron. So now I get one injection every week of B12 (1 ml ) for five weeks, and I take 100 mg iron-supplement daily. I have also started eating a lot better, which means a lot of vegetables and some fruit. I also eat a lot of whole grain bread, fish and liver. (The last two might not be to everyones liking...) My blender is really being put to its limits, because I make smoothies with whatever veggie/fruits I have in my fridge, and make sure I eat a lot of vegetables with my dinner. I make a lot of soups, because it is so easy, just a big pot, water, veggies, broth (store-bought), spices / herbs. Simple way to get a lot of veggies every day. And I eat a handful of cashew-nuts, and a tablespoon or more of sunflower-seeds. The last month or so I have really started feelig better! Not as lethargic, moody and down as I was before I started with the supplements and the veggie-soups and the veggie-smoothies. I dont eat a lot of fruit because they have sugar (fruit-sugar is after all a sugar) and too much sugar seems to make my bloodsugar-levels go crazy. And I have lost some weight also!!! I would rather make some real changes in my diet before I started taking a lot of supplements, even though I see that a lot of you have really benefited from taking them. A lot of good tips in this thread about what more I can do to make myself healthier!

Like Suzy, I have a B12 deficiency that was identified through a blood test. Having weekly injections has made a huge difference in my mental clarity and memory (probably the depression, too). I take 3 different meds, but it wasn't until I'd had a couple B12 injections that I noticed the difference.

I will probably start to take omega 3 as well, just trying to introduce as few things at a time as possible so that I can identify the effects, if any.

Wow, it does sound so economical. I have an integrative dr and she recommends more omega 3's so I end up swallowing so many capsules as day that it costs a lot of money. Plus, I hate swallowing those huge capsules - mixing oil into a smoothie in a blender would be far easier. But I am concerned that some much oil will not last (meaning that it might get rancid). How long have you had your gallon?

I've been told to take omega 3 because it helps with mood regulation.

Vitamin B is necessary if your blood tests reveal a deficiency in this otherwise you'd be wasting your money because excess just collects in your urine and your body just pees them out.

I had a comprehensive blood test done and my only deficiency was vitamin d so I'm on supplements for that in order to help regulate my mood.

I agree with Hooligan, in that one should be a little carefrul about how much of the supplements to take. Have bloodtestes done, and be sure that you really need them. Supplements are expensive in the long run. I have started eating a lot healthier, and I believe that diet is just as important, if not more important than taking supplements. But I guess it is a matter of finding out what works for you. Make sure your body gets what it needs through food first, and use supplements for what they are ment to be - a supplement to a normal, healthy, balanced diet.
