I've only been taking it for about a week, so I'm not sure if this is the meds or a mood swing. I've just been feeling really.... Numb, I guess? It's the best way I can think of describing it. I feel very antisocial, which is very unlike me, unless I'm super depressed. I just don't really care about doing anything right now. Just want to lay around. I'm getting really discouraged, I've tried sooo many different meds. Nothing helps.

Hi-
I do. But it is a fairly new drug to me. I was on 30 mg for 4 weeks, and now have been on 60 mgs for almost a month. WHat else are you on?

Finding the correct med is is a PITA.

I do. I feel blunted too. I am not sure if it is the cymbalta or lithium. I don't feel much of anything. I am also feeling antisocial. I too am laying around watching a lot of television etc. Maybe it is the cymbalta after all.

I didn't spend much time on Cymbalta because I had extremely bad night terrors to the point of not sleeping (didn't sleep for a week straight... not good!), I felt extremely numb and disconnected from everything else. I didn't want to be involved in anything but video games and even then, that became a chore. So, I think it's just a side effect of the drug.

If it gets so unbearable talk to your doctor about it instead of trying to sit it out, of course give it longer then a week to get into your system. My pdoc says it can take a drug anywhere between 6-9 wks to work its way through your system.

And as for feeling discouraged, I feel you 100%! I think a lot of people are probably in the same boat you and I are in. I wish there was a quick fix but I'm working on my third year of medicine tweaking. I've been on so many I could describe the color, shape, size, and mg of more meds then my cousin who's a pharm tech. Sometimes the new drugs work and I feel better, then we seem to take 5 giant leaps backwards. It's so frustrating!!

It's frustrating but really there's no other choice. I hope you stick with it.

I have taken every anti-depressant known to man and woman.

they are a psychological mis-fortune

Omg I used to take that. It's was miserable getting off of it, withdrawals were horrible. Why do they make meds like that?? There has to be something better...

Hi.

I could not tolerate Effexor either. "They" say Pristiq is the "cleaned up version of Effexor"....That caused me daily headaches.

It is ridiculous how many bottles of useless pills and capsules I have.

I've been taking Cymbalta for some time now. I started on the 30 mg and then moved up to 60. It took probably three months for me to really get the full effect of it. It's the only antidepressant to work for me, and I take it in combination with Topamax.
A couple of years ago I went into a really bad slide for over year--a very deep depression and we tried all kinds of other meds separately & in combination with Cymbalta. I had very bad side effects with them, & my pdoc finally up'd the Cymbalta to 90 mg. That's sovedl the problem and I've been at that dosage ever since. It's done a great job for me but I do need to take it in combination with a mood stabilizer.
