These hypomaniac episodes are AMAZING I can literally do anything. No fear no second guessing everything is just so simple and joyful.
Is there a way to maintain this level of higness? |

Usually not .. What goes up must come down at some point.
I hope you have a soft landing. Stay safe.

always kind of wished I would have those kind of highs but I never do. I tend to be depressed most of the time and when I go high it's anxiety, paranoia, and schizoaffective.

I don't know if anyone who's bipolar stays in a constant state of hypomania. I've either come down to "normal" or have crashed eventually into depression.

I'm on the bottom and can't pull myself out of this depression. So I am at the opposite end of the spectum. I'm hoping to come up at some point.
I don't blame you for wanting to stay at the top. I was there before, wish I could get back up there. Hope when you come down it's not as bad as mine. ![]()

The higher I go the lower I crash. Everyone is different, but it is called bipolar for a reason.
Enjoy it while it lasts and be careful. |

My mania tends to get out of control quickly. I can be hypomanic for a good amount of time . But once I get towards mania I get very high and its hard for me to control my fight/flight mechanism.
I just experienced my second full mania episode. At this point I am trying to gauge where if my depression will come out or not. At this point it doesn't look like it but I could be wrong. Luckily I caught my mania rather early and it seems I might luck out while being slightly up/down with out too much trouble or maybe even normal which in general feels right. |

I've been hypomanic for a couple of weeks now.....it ramped up so slowly that I didn't really notice it till I started getting into arguments about politics again (which I normally avoid because I am very opinionated). TOday I called my pdoc because it's starting to turn on me AGAIN and I've managed to piss off several of my friends. When I start worrying, you know it's bad.

Is there a way to tone down hypomania so you don't crash so hard?

I once stayed mostly hypo for months on end. That's how some people met me and just thought hat I'm always the life of the party, the eternal optimist and the most joyful, understanding person ever. Depression crept in slowly and it least didn't come with a bang.
It's like the pendulum swings - the higher to one side, the same to the other side. Isn't that just what we all want, for the pendulum to have a small swing? |

Indeed the hypomanic episodes are AMAZING...until they're not.
Proceed with caution....enjoy it, get a lot done while you can. |

Sure enough, this one went from hypomania to full-blown mania over the course of about 12 hours. Night before last, I knew I was losing it when I was laying in bed at 4 am staring at the celing and trying to talk myself out of freaking out. I was paranoid and scared to call my pdoc because I thought he'd put me in the hospital. I don't want to go to the hospital. It took me two hours to get enough cojones to call, but I did. We're stopping the Celexa because he thinks it might be feeding the mania, and I'm taking a bit of Zyprexa for a few nights to knock it out.
If I had my druthers, I would love to have some hypomania that doesn't get out of control the way mine does. But then, that's what a lot of us wish for, isn't it?

It seems like Zyprexa is always better than the hospital.
I guess beefing up on a benzo when one starts to notice it's starting to be a little too much. That has worked for me.

My pdoc put the ABS brakes on my speeding car with the addition of depakote and increased saphris and brought it to a screeching halt, I wish it could have been a bit softer. Now I'm unstable and working to come back up to baseline. Its best not to let the swing get too high because it swings high the opposite direction sometimes.
