Bipolar is not cureable, but it is treatable. Most people with bipolar find it easier/better/necessary to live with medication, but some opt to live med-free. Either way, learning good coping skills is incredibly beneficial when it comes to improving quality of life.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist and on medication?

There are a lot of options out there as far as meds go, you will have to trial and error it until you find what works for you.

Have you tried a mood diary to see if there is a pattern? Not sure if you are male or female but if it is happening "every month" could it be hormone related?

Depending on the severity of your symptoms it can be managed with coping skills and therapy.

That's what I was thinking.....sounds like PMDD but of course I'm not a doctor so I can't diagnose anything.

They first diagnosed me with PMDD when I started having more bipolar symptoms. I finally was sent to a pdoc and THEN after seeing her a while, diagnosed with bipolar 1. It takes a while. I don't like the idea of PMDD anyway.

I'd talk to your pdoc about the timing of these episodes, he/she may not be aware of it? After evaluating for the possibility of PMDD, if it then appears to be a possibility, you could be referred to a gynecologist for contraceptives --no doubt, also, many gynecologists are familiar with this issue and may be able to help understand it.

Or maybe this isn't it, but it might be worthwhile to consider the possibility, to either rule it out, or in. Best of luck.

Thank You so much for the advice Guys, I actually went to the Health and behavior clinic today bcause im going on depression right now and i found out that I'm not a bipolar. I'm kinda upset bcause they let me believe that i was a bipolar. They read my chart and the intake told me I have boarder line personality disorder and maybe possibility of PMDD as well. I never heard of Boardline before but sounds more like me.

There is a boarderline forum on here too, they seem like a real supportive bunch. I bet you are relieved to have the right diagnosis

Thank you for updating us. It's good to see you've now had your diagnoses clarified for you. As Supanova said, there is a forum on PsychCentral for people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), which you may find helpful. Often talking about things with others can have a positive impact on your mood, especially when they're going through the same things as you are.

It's actually quite common for misdiagnoses' between Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar Disorder due to similarities between the two conditions.

As you've now confirmed that you are indeed diagnosed with BPD rather than Bipolar Disorder, I believe that you'd be treated with therapy-based treatments instead of medications; medication isn't nearly as effective treating and managing personality disorders as it is treating Bipolar Disorder. Thus therapy for you could be the way forward.

I'd also recommend you keep chasing up the possibility of PMDD being involved as others have said, to either rule it out or help you to find the right treatment for that part of the problem.

Be positive!
RB.

After almost two years of treatment with olanzapina and fluoxetina I finally feel that everything is gonna be ok. Iīd just like to tell everybody how important is to take your treatment. Please the only way I know for sure that is going to help you is to trust in your doctor. Thatīs what I did and itīs been the best thing Iīve done.
Now Iīm just taking 10mg of fluoxetina everyday and itīs wonderful.

I found that using "the bipolar workbook" by Monica Ramirez Basco Phd., has helped me a lot. therapy also helps too. My meds get shifted around often either because the side effects are intolerable or they just stop working.

ETA: they have wporkbooks for borderline too.
Thanks for this!
