I've started zoloft and for the first few days the side effects were pretty bad, but now they are a bit better.
I am tired ALL THE TIME now though. I want to just sleep 24/7 and I fall asleep in class and so on. My P-doc says that drowsiness isn't a side effect to Zoloft... :P Then why am I tried all the time?!

I can't tell if I have more anxiety on the drug, or if I"m starting to have bad thoughts again...

I guess I have to wait,

All of the antidepressants I have been on made me lethargic, it gets better but I gain a lot of weight on them.
Thanks for this!

I don't feel any more tired..I'm actually a little less tired. Also I don't have an increased appetite..decreased so I guess I'm lucky! I've read all the horror stories , but it works great for me. I did have some increased anxiety the first few days and each time I upped it but it subsided. I would voice your concerns to your pdoc,.it may not be the right med for you. Good luck!

I hated Zoloft the first week! In fact I stopped. The doc started me on 50mg then go to 100mg after the first week. I could not get passed the first week, horrible side effects, then I googled the starting dosage for Zoloft and found 25mg is the usual, so I started taking a 1/4 pill = 25mg and found that much easier to cope with. By the end of the second week I started loving Zoloft! It's now my second favorite antidepressant after Wellbutrin which I am still on too. It totally eliminated my low level anxiety, curved most of my moderate to feel like low level. So far has done nothing for severe or attacks but I'm only at 50mg so far. Any way just eliminating all my low end which was constantly there all the time is a big relief and worth it for me because IMHO that was the worse! Constant nagging anxiety even if its low is exhausting and torture! My moderate, severe and attacks have always been fewer, so now I can save my xanax for the times I really need it most. I'm very please with Zoloft and can honestly say I benefit from it! Yesterday was the first elevated day I've had in a long time! I was elevated all day with a smile on my face that could not be wiped off. Totally in-effected by stress or any bad ills. It was GREAT! Give it a couple of weeks before you judge it! It's not a cure all but if it helps you in any way your ahead of the game as far as I'm concerned. Good luck to you!

Have you tried taking Zoloft at night instead of in the morning? I work in a nursing home and the resdients who are on Zoloft take it at bedtime, which works pretty well for them since they sleep at night instead of drowsing throught the day.

Zoloft works well for me, but I have never experienced drowsiness from it. If I take it at night I do not sleep well. I hadnt heard of it causing drowsiness at all among my friends that take it either. Could it be too strong for you?
Thanks for this!

The first week it made me feel drowsy and gave me even worse insomnia, I have to take it when I wake up. The dizziness went away after the first week for me then I got a burst of new energy, I also take wellbutrin too. Best damn combo I've ever been on

Im glad it is working for you now, I recall you previously had problems with it.

Im wondering if I should up my dose to help with the OCD and PMDD, my pdoc said I could but there are a few non med treatments I want to try first.

Your p-doc said that, hmm? Odd. Tiredness is listed as a side effect by both the NHS (UK) and the leaflet packaged with the medication. Not sure what that's all about! Is your pdoc slightly biased for 'financial purposes'? joking. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for that.

I've got to say that personally I just had extremely horrible nausea and annoying headaches when I first started on 150mg of Zoloft. Well, I also had sexual issues for the first two weeks as well.

Anyway! Here's the reassuring bit: with most SSRIs (the antidepressant group that Zoloft belongs to), the side effects last for a couple of weeks only before subsiding. Along with that, the therapeutic effect isn't typically felt until two weeks after the first dosage. Oh and not to mention: most, if not all, SSRIs can potentially increase suicidal thoughts and tendencies in the first couple of months; Zoloft (among other antidepressants) therefore carries a black box warning. It's certain that with antidepressants, things do get worse before they get better! So hang in there.

I take 50mg of Zoloft and it doesn't make me drowsy at all. In fact, it's the only med I can take during the day. Everything else makes me sleepy. I do notice a decreased appetite bordering on nausea at times. That's the only lingering side effect for me.

Same here! Also taking Wellbutrin my appetite is very light. I've lost 40 lbs over the past 4 months! When I do eat I eat! But I can go longer in between. Also when I started taking zoloft nausea and minor body tremors and muscle tension also bothered me the first week. Zoloft does indeed act more like a stim then most SSRIs and along the line of Wellbutrin. In fact I still can not take either before bed otherwise I will never sleep. All the side effects have gone now, and I started feeling the benefits by the end of the first week too! The only side effect I still have is when I yawn I get a mild rush too. I also get brain zaps once in awhile, but I actually like them lol. No complaints any more from me

Those black box warning could be explaining where my mind is trying to go right now... :O Thanks soo much for enlightening me to that My P-doc did says suicidal thoughts usually go away if they happen at all!

Sorry for the delay: yes it is temporary, otherwise I wouldn't see why it would go to market as an antidepressant! More a depressant (aka any romance film, jeez they tear me apart!)

Mostly the increased suicidality warning is precautionary but occasionally it can be an issue. When I used to be switched to a different medication I would usually be admitted to inpatient voluntarily (Or not) for that reason. However, after a while it will subside.

I had to do the same thing. If take zoloft in the morning it makes me tired so I take it before bed which has helped a lot
