I'm waiting for my seroquel to kick in and everything makes me angry frustrated pissed off and irate. I thought I was going manic because my mania is very angry but I cry every day. My therapist said there is such a thing as irritable depression. Huh? Never heard of it. I've gobe so far as to send a church pastor a nasty email I am so fired up! It's like I feel so f'd up that if I can make someone else feel bad I feel some alleviating relief. Sick I know, and normally I'm all about spreading the good vibes; a true believer in karma

That's what I'm thinking. Sounds like mixed episode.

I would love to know more about mixed episodes. My pdoc says that might be what I had experienced on increased dose of Prozac.

When I was in a mixed episode, I was up, down, and very irritable all rapped up in having trouble making decisions, changing my mind constantly, crying, etc.

I never felt up. Just anxiety, insomnia (though I wanted to sleep desperately). Husband says I was not irritable, just filled with anxiety.

Mixed episodes sound so much worse. Nothing good. How do the doctors know
It's a mixed episode?

Hey thickntired, sorry to hear-been there too many times! I'd say it's dysphoric mania or agitated depression same thing as a mixed state. I experience them quite often instead of euphoric mania, or what I like to call an "ecstatic state". As I'm sure you know once you've had a high, there's no middle and everything else is a low. The AAP's like Latuda, help keep bipolar individuals like me from going too high and too low...again no middle. Best of luck, the benzo's help take the edge away a little when I'm in a mixed state.
Thanks for this!

I am really sorry you are feeling like that, I know exactly how it feels and to know that it isn't really you raging. All the frustration at nothing, flying off the handle over nothing, crying easily, feeling like you just want to get out of your skin and like nothing can go right, it is exhausting.

I have the same issues.

I suppose I was in this "mixed stage" a lot the last 15 years. DBT has helped me A LOT! It seems really patronizing at first to practice mindfulness, but if you just give it a shot it really does help. When something happens that angers me and doesn't warrant anger, I stop feel the feeling, acknowledge it, then dismiss it. After a while it started to work. You have to be VERY conscious of what you are doing and not beat yourself up when you don't catch it.

I also use Lamictal, made it a lot easier for me to use my DBT skills. i guess you could say it helps take the edge off.
