I really think I'm starting to hallucinate. Last night when I was trying to fall asleep I'd see with the corner of my eye some shadows moving and colored lights on the walls, and once I even thought my curtain was on fire. Those hallucinations (?) went on today as well, with the addition of some auditory ones, a dialogue, to be more specific, between two men, occurring whenever I'd turn on some music. I could not understand what the voices were saying, but it seemed to be a boring subject, probably they were talking about myself.

I just came out of an episode like that myself. Call your pdoc and let him/her know what's going on.....if you're not medicated, you probably should be, and if you are, you may need to have your meds adjusted. Good luck to you.

Damn it, I've just seen one and right after that I find myself hallucinating...Alright then. Thank you all!
On the meds...I'm afraid of them a little. I'm afraid of their side effects, mostly; I don't want to gain a lot of weight, or sleep 16 hours/day, or get priapism and so on...I'd rather endure pain than get any of the above...Is there any kind of 'side effects free' meds, or at least meds with very mild ones, such as sleepiness or fatigue? I've experienced auditory hallucinations too. It's like 2 people having a conversation on the radio, and sometimes it's as if there are people having a chat in my drive. Sometimes I can hear music, and it's so real that I feel I could almost tap my fingers to the beat. When I told my psychiatrist about the hallucinations she was a bit dismissive about them, and said that they were side effects of the medicine I was taking.
I'm aware that a great deal of medical advice given over the Internet is baloney, but nearly all of the literature claims that hallucinations are common to bi-polar sufferers. I can't help but feel that on occasion my psychiatrist makes it up as she goes along. ![]() |

I usually just get the visual ones. I've gotten the auditory ones, but they don't freak me out as much for some reason. The visual ones freak me out the most. I'm not sure how common they are, but it was after explaining them that something seemed to click on my pdoc's face.
I still get them occasionally, but they've slowed down a lot since I started lamictal. It does have a list of its own side effects, though... If you want one with few side effects, you could be honest with your pdoc about that. But if the hallucinations are interfering with your life, it's always a good idea to bring them up.

Once I heard some strange music too, an evil, electronic piece which lasted for a few seconds.
So far, no hallucination has bothered me too much, in fact, to be honest, they were quite boring, nothing that could cause me any worries. And they don't come very day either. |
