When i was depressed I was told to "activate". Even going out into the world to a coffee shop with a friend counted.

So sorry to hear!!! Yes meds that I like that work if your doc will prescribe them are Nuvigil/Provigil, any psycho stimulants like Ritalin work great and Welbutrin. All the best!!

Hi there, welcome . I'm sorry you're really going through it. Bp depression is so hard. I started (again) lamictal around 4 weeks ago & I'm really starting to feel better. I was bad depressed like you sleeping at least 12 hrs / day. Personally I'm not a meds person but I needed serious help. I hope you can get some help, there is good supportive people here to talk to with lots of different experience & insights.

I don't know if you are on any medications. Yes depression can be all consuming ... But I do think that just forcing yourself to get up and do something even though you may hate it does help.. start small .... talk a walk get some sunshine and fresh air. Take a shower or a bath. Polish your nails a bright happy color. Just mix things up.

Make a list of things you want to get done..Don't get overwhelmed just push yourself to do at least one thing off that list a day. use a timer if need be ..It's shocking how much can be done in 15 minutes ..

I hope your feeling better soon .

Thankyou all for your support and help. I am seeing my psych today to see if he can do anything. I am currently on 300mg lamictal 40mg latuda 125mg nuvigil and 5mg of saphris. I just can't seem to shake this off. I hope that this thing will pass soon because i feel like I'm missing out on life. Hope everyone else is doing well and wish everyone the best.

12 hours of sleep a day would make me depressed. Maybe try and cut that back to 6 - 8 hours?

I have huge problems with motivation too, I force myself to do things but more motivation never comes, I just end up more tired with headaches and it feels like there is no point. So I can relate

Good you're seeing the doc - I hope you get some relief. 5 months straight of bp depression... I've done that long, longer too makes me almost cry thinking about it!

So nuvigil - is that like Provigil? Curious if you know. I picked up rx today for it, going to try it tomorrow. It's supposed to keep me awake and focus and hopefully make it into my office.

Starting small is smart - if you can try to get some sun. Pdoc told me this last week and I scoffed at her that she sounded like my mother - but they're both right. I just do t know how to get off my butt outside to the sun (when there is some). It's still a little too overwhelming for me. But the sun is important - I have a history of vitamin D deficiency, despite living in a fairly sunny area. I think its a bp thing, we may not process it well or need more or something. Might want to look into getting your D levels checked if you haven't recently. Good luck at the appointment tomorrow.

Yeah nuvigil is like provigil. It has done wonders for me. It keeps me awake and going through the day otherwise without it i would be in bed and sleeping and doing nothing all day.
