Is the desire to travel a trait of mania? Did this trait help humans populate new regions? Thoughts?
All I know is that it's very boring here in the pacific northwest area (Washington/Oregon), and that I really want to go somewhere where English isn't the official language. I just blew over 1k yesterday on a single purchase but I know it was the right choice because the cashier gave me a penny back in change that was minted the year I was born and marked with the letter my first name begins with. ![]() |

I feel the need to escape a lot.
During hypomania I feel that there are so many exciting places to go and I want to go to all of them! Put it on my credit card! During depression I feel that I will never see everything I want to and I am going to die after living in the same boring area for all of my life. Then I get anxious and make anxious travel plans that I can't follow through with because I become a mess. |

I just don't want to become one of those old sad people that have no sense of wonder. I guess the key is to not let life crush you, otherwise you end up like a diamond no one wants--forever hard and people can see right through you.

I don't travel as much as I would like, just don't have the energy, however, I do still see wonder in a sunset or sunup, a babies smile, the joy my dogs have when I get home from work, etc.

This is why I will never have my licence.
![]() As a kid I spent Friday-Sunday night on the road with my dad on some adventure unless he was depressed and in his room from lack of money. I always went on his business trips even if I had school or out all night at taco-bell hanging out with my dad. I have the nick-name "dad's little boy" If it wasn't with him on an adventure I was at my grandparents camp. On vacations we'd leave as a family from the moment we got off the bus to the morning school started. As teens we spent week-end traveling with our friends or "spending the weekend's at friend houses" or waking up our siblings to go out. As an adult I live states away and still call my siblings and parents any time to talk or sneak off for road trips with my siblings. We've live in several area's in several states the last 12 years. I'd live traveling but cash is an issue. Anyway even if I'm depressed I get stir crazy within days.

Then 2x round trips:
I so want to do it again, it was the best time in my life, I spent two weeks in Vagus, I spent two weeks in Yosemite, another two weeks traveling the California coast, and 5 weeks down in Texas and the gulf of mexico. When I get my settlement I'm want to spend the whole year just traveling. I stayed at hostels, it was fun. Yosemite was awesome. |

Oh, I do indeed. And to outside pwetty resorts in the Mediterrean. Not that i haven't done the typical pretty places, I think in Europe, I seen the major pretty and famous places... I just prefer more rawness.
I been to Kosovo and visited Albania three times. I been to Ukraine (and convinced several friends of mine to just buy train ticket and discover this country and they loved it), Russia. I took some guided tours, but the above mentioned places I visited all alone, with bagpack, volunteering or plain discovering there. Itching to go somewhere again. I would really love to see Israel. And India. And Vietnam and Japan, Thailand, Sri Lanka... Egypt and Libya when they are no longer bloody mess (I am no disaster tourist). Many other places too.

I love travelling, even when I'm depressed.
I mostly travel alone, but it's never spur of the moment. I plan out my holidays well in advance (well, where I want to go and where I will stay... I keep what I am doing day-to-day based on what I want to do when I wake up that day). I'm currently trying to decide where to go for my 30th bday this summer. haha.
