I have been on disability for a year through my company. 6 months of STD and now 5 months of LTD. I was laid off in November. I was first diagnosed with major depressive disorder, anxiety and panic. They recently changed it to BP II.

I was told I had to attend an intensive outpatient program 4 days a week because I wasn't getting any better. I've been in counseling for a year. They also have an attorney helping me to try for SSD.

The IOP has been hell for me because I am practically agoraphobic. If my husband drove I would be agoraphobic but he doesn't so instead he has to go everywhere with me and I don't go in unless I have to.

I still have problems with activities of daily living and major anxiety/panic. I just started with a new psychiatrist and of course he is changing my meds.

Are any of you on long term disability through SSD for these issues?

There is no way I can work when I can't even shower or go anywhere without my husband.

Just looking for some hope as I constantly obsess they will cancel my LTD and we'll be homeless.

Thanks!

I am on ssd for bp2 anxiety depression and bpd. Sounds like you have all the same diagnoses as I do except fir the bpd. Anyways I know the way ss deals with psychiatric evals cause i went through it. I of course not at liberty to say you'd get it but I know I did fir the exact same illnesses. Do you have an attorney to help you get it? If not I would suggest getting one. That is how I did it. I.first tried to get it on my own and got denied. Then I got an attorney and got it about 1 1/2 to 2 years later so it does take time to get it but not always. We had to get records from many difficult drs and specialists which spanned over years of treatment. I also kept getting fired at jobs for not being able to do the work given to me. I missed work because of it which it sounds like that is the case with you. So it can take a while to get it. Do you have alot of records which document yr illness? On a side note I think that intensive outpatient program sounds like a great idea to help you. I have many similar problems leaving the house. I'm constantly scared of the world and the bad things that happen to people when they leave their house. Sounds corny but it's my reality. I am now able to hold down a pt job along with getting ssd. I still have major problems leaving the house but I face it head on ave it's very difficult. But i have no choice. I need the extra money to help pay for my meds and with rent etc. I get a good amt from my ssd but it's not enough money to live in it all alone. I also am a single parent of a child so I am the bread winner. I hope all this helps you. Feel free to write me back and I'll try and answer any questions you have. Take care

I do have an attorney and have all my medical records from the last year. I just sent in the activities of daily living questionnaire as did my husband.

Do you know what they do next?

You should be proud of yourself for working PT even when you're scared. You're obviously a great mom.

Thanks for replying!

Usually after they get all the info from you, yr Drs, specialists etc they look it all over and make a decision. Don't be surprised if you get denied the first time. Usually everyone does. Im not trying to be negative or scare you. I'm just letting you know how they work. Talk to yr attorney and they will help you thru the steps.they know how long it takes to get the response from then.

Thanks! I read 65 percent of people get denied the first time. I guess I'll wait and see.
