I feel that this is a relevant article from CNN:

Opinion: Doctor, LOOK at me - CNN.com

Copy and put in your browser to read.

We as patients have come a long way from 'the old days' when patients who came to see a doctor with a list of their concerns were frowned upon and largely viewed as "hypochondriacs." Only those of you who are older will know about that. I remember it and also feeling really self-conscious when I got out my list of concerns.

We - or rather the doctors - still have a ways to go. But, I have experienced one lone doctor who did her computer input after I left!
Thanks for this!

My family doctor as a kid recorded his notes into a voice recorder. Like "first name, last name, cases number came in concerned about x, I said y and did z, and prescribed j" so I'm rather use to notes being taken. I only had three drs that didn't make me feel like I was their only patient. they were always quickly replaced by caring drs. Yes my drs take notes on the computer but that's usually when they're asking where I'd like my RX sent.

I don't know how Dr. Awesomesauce does it, but he can take extensive notes without EVER making me feel that the notes are more important than what I have to say. He does them on the laptop and never takes his eyes off me while we're talking. As a result, he knows me almost as well as anyone on the planet---knows all my little quirks and foibles, and he remembers everything. Even things I said months ago that I myself have forgotten. He's amazing.
