Been stressed for the last week and am progressively sleeping less and less. I wake up and cannot go back to sleep...

Ideas???

Not on any meds and want to try to keep it that way (at least the heavy duty ones), but I know I can get pretty sick very quickly without sleep... SCARED!!!

Well I'm on meds and still struggling with sleep, but u could try chamomile tea, meditation videos for sleep on YouTube, melatonin, relaxation techniques, tryptophan, and benadryl.

I find NyQuil works the best. I take a double dose to sleep. This is my backup plan. I find that music with my comfortable headphones on helps me very well. I am usually asleep in about a half an hour.

Oh yes, a regular routine of melatonin and going to bed at the same title also worked for me.

Slow release melatonin works great for me. I wake up but its easy to get back to sleep again. Its not a drug as such, it occurs naturally in your body, and in bipolar people it is sometimes very out of whack so thats why it works so well for us. Especially if you are having trouble sleeping at night.
