I don't know if this has been posted before but I thought that all of us making a list of coping mechanisms might benefit some people... and well... me. I really need some new coping mechanisms honestly. My normal ones are sometimes a little too hard to do with how I've been feeling these past few months. So what do you all do when in crisis? I'll start by listing some of the things that I do:

-Walking around at night when no one is out
-watching a TV show
-google searching
-play a game
-doing something computer related
-If I can get myself up to a good enough level to write then that can help as well. But most of the time I'm too depressed to do something like that... Just makes it hard to think.

As I said, I need some new ideas lol.

Glok.... Im not sure why you would advise the OP to go to that forum when he/she is asking for coping skills

Anyway ...

Meditation
Mindfulness
Yoga
Keep a journal
Exercise
Start a new hobby .Painting, clay, knitting etc
Call a friend
Pick a random topic and research it online
I do alot of cleaning and moving furniture around.
anything that can distract you .

Im sure others will come along and have more Ideas

Try a method called four square breathing. Outline a square in yr mind. Breathe in deep, hold for four seconds then breathe out and hold for four seconds. Repeat this four times. It really helps ease an anxiety attack. Also, when you have a thought, process it then put a feeling to it do you feel validated. Then choose a positive behavior to help relieve the negative thought you might have. Choosing a positive behavior is important...for example instead of self harm, do an exercise like four square breathing or meditating. I.hope these ideas help you. Hugs

My biggest coping skill right now is a nap...I'm not sure if that's good or not.
