I'm a bit new here but diving in... my therapist today along with marriage counselor informed me of 10 day hospital visit 830 to 230 Monday through friday. Be diagnosed by Dr's and have my medicine looked at and considered. .... I'm not real sure about it.. has anyone done anything similar? It's not impatient but sort of the reason is my deep depression and my current psych dr. Not being to compliant with my needs and is only able to see me.once every 3 months... I'm in a union but would have to look into my job giving me the time and possible sick leave pay... I'm just not sure.in general . period. . Just how I feel... just curious if anyone seen or been in anything like this

I did something like this a couple of months ago. The one I went was a lot of classes on how to handle different stressors. Good luck.

I was in a partial hospitalization program a few months back, which seems similar to what you're describing. I had a primary therapist there, and a psychiatrist I met with every couple days. There were a lot of groups that covered everything from general discussion, to meds, to CBT, and little DBT, and stress reduction techniques such as mindfullness and meditation. I found it to be quite helpful in both adjusting my meds and developing coping techniques.

I've done day programs, DBT and CBT, I found it very helpful. My challenge is to pulling out that tool box of skills when I'm in trouble but they do work. I would go for it. really, you'll get something out of it.

Good luck

I just got out of the hospitals iop program last month...it did wonders for me. I got my meds adjusted by a pdoc and learned new skills to help me cope. How to handle stress, dbt skills, how to handle thoughts then analyze the feelings and finally looking at what behaviors come out of them. The goal is to have positive behaviors and keep us away from negative behaviors like self harm etc. I'd go for it. You'll get alot out of it.

Does yr work know about yr illness? Mine does which is why I was able to take a leave of absence. maybe you could tell them that you need to be out for two weeks for medical reasons? How long have you worked there? It can help if you've worked for the company for at least a year...meaning it can help with the explanation if you've been there a while. Since yr in a union job I think that's a good thing too...job protection. You may have to use yr sick pay and vacation time if you need to have the time off paid..just throwing out ideas. I.have no idea what.yr job situation is. Hopefully I've helped. Hugs

I've been in a partial or IOP for the better part of a year (different ones, discharged then go back). They have helped tremendously. But I attended partial when school was out ( I'm a teacher) and the IOP I go to is in the evening so I didn't have to miss work. I did miss work due to a couple of inpatient stays and for those I just told my coworkers and my boss for that matter that I was having a reaction to a medication. Most everyone left it at that.
