Sorry. Not doing so well today.

A lot of stuff going on and my mood has plummeted.

Don't even feel like talking about it.

Just wanted to say I feel miserable.

I could do with some words of encouragement.

Hey Hooligan I'm sorry you're so down. Is there anything that helps when you feel this way? Music? What is part of what brought this on? I hope you feel a lot better soon. Darn Tapatalk won't do hugs, but ((((((hugs)))))).

I'm currently not working (Business Managent Teacher) and was thinking of training in a beautician course with the aim of opening up my own business.

I thought I had my husbands support, which he says I do.

But he went on and on and on today about how we shouldn't have to be in the position to apply for a loan for the training and getting the business up and running.

He said we've been living the high life for the last 6 years and should have been more studious in our savings. He's right.

But why didn't he tell me this a month ago!

I've invested so much time on website designs, course training fees, equipment suppliers, applications to council blah blah blah.

A month of whole hearted investigating.

Couldn't he have just said that a month ago!!!

So now I'm back to square one. Looking for teaching jobs next year. But I exited my most recent job so badly there will be bugger all reference for me.

I feel stuck. I thought I had some focus going ahead and now I dont.

Is there no way to revisit the idea ? maybe go ahead for you license, and then keep crunching numbers and see where you are after you get a license?

I'm not sure how much of a living you can make in your country, but in the USA is can be a very good paying job that allows a person to be creative and mostly make your own hours, that's a plus.

I'm sorry this has happened

I would go ahead with it anyway. Unless it meant not paying basics. Tell your husband he supposed you a month ago and it's to late now to back out. Can you be an online teacher or an adjunct until you finish training?

I'd look at it as just a delay. You can still go ahead with the training, etc, but it might be on another timeline. Still I know how disappointed you must have been. I still think you can do that though, even if not quite yet! (((((Hugs)))))

I would give it a few days and talk to him again. He says he does support your idea, so I would try again once he has got his feelings out of his system. It could be that he is more just venting than actually saying no to your idea.

I thought this way was good because I could be my own "boss" - not accountable to others but accountable to my business.

We'd still need some upfront fees for the license / training. And on one income right now I'm not even sure if that would happen via a loan.

The idea was to start the business late Jan / Feb and supplement the income working the odd day as a causal relief teacher until I establish some sort of client base.
Now instead of the loan option which my husband initially agreed to - he's saying I should be out there earning as much as possible and working on the beautician modules as I go along.

I know I can only stretch myself that far work and study wise then I will pop. It's mainly a practical course with some exams.

Not entirely sure about the online teaching part over here.

Problem is the training institution wants fees for modules up front.

And the loan would have to be in my husbands name because he's the one working so I wouldn't have access to the business funds, which he applied to through a different bank.

I agree.

But I was so keen on doing it now while the time was "right" because I am not working and would be able to study.

I know that if and when I do find teaching employment I can't pull myself in too many different directions incase I crack.
Thanks for this!

I agree.

He is venting.

He hasn't totally dismissed the idea.

But his new proposal as to how I should be going about every thing has me thrown

In that case, there is hope. Give it a few days, think it through, and talk to him again. Best of luck!

Sorry you're going through this-I understand how much it hurts when you think someone has your back on something & then suddenly they don't. I can also relate to not saving enough money while living "the high life" but it doesn't help to beat yourself up over the past. I've been in a bit of flux with my career for a while now-don't want to go back into what I've been doing most of my life but unsure how to balance the cost of a new one at my age-sending lots of positive energy your way & hope things get better soon.

I'm not even entirely convinced I really want to go back into teaching.

I was somewhat looking for a career change.

Teaching never ends well.

I go through two year cycles and then things go wrong with me and I'm given the boot.

Sometimes those close to us want to be supportive but they are scared of the leap into the unknown and they don't know how to say that. I'm sorry.

What your husband is suggesting, is smart. But I see where you are coming from with not wanting to take on too much. Is there a course that you can go your own pace on? So there are no deadlines to meet?

Im sorry you got your hopes up, its disappointing when things dont go your way.

In theory I could do the course at my own pace. But it would require practicals and exams. And if I'm working by the time I start the course .... I just don't know ....
