I have felt like a zombie all day, had a headache and bouts of nausea. The side effects had gone away but I increased the dosage to 50 mg. last night. I've been on a very even keel today, which I'm hoping means I won't have to increase the dosage again. My psych thinks I'll have to up to 100 mg. so we'll see.

So how long do the side effects last once you start increasing the dosage?

I think it varies from person to person...but I think it took me longer than most people to get used to Seroquel's effects. Maybe it's because I'm a thinner person, so I can't handle as much? I don't know. But I do know that when we increased the meds, it always took a week or more to get used to the changes. I hope you find the right dosage as soon as possible - that zombie feeling isn't fun!

Do you take it at night? It helps me to sleep and I know that if I take it in the morning, I'm a hot mess- super sleepy. You might b on too high of a dosage. I started out really low many years ago and am now at 50mg. The only side effects I've ever had was drowsiness from too much of the seroquel. Talk to your psych. Side effects r no fun and a slight tweak of your meds is an easy fix.

I am on 800 mg. of Seroquel and still feel groggy the next day and I have been taking it for a long itme.

The grogginess isn't nearly as bad as it used to be though.

All of the side effects are gone today except for the grogginess. My moods seem to be really stable thus far today. Hope it stays that way.

I was on it 5 years and the hangover effect never really went away. It slowly lessened over time, but I always was slow and ready to go back to bed, the first few hours after waking. Eventually, I just learned to fight it (lots of coffee) and go about my business.

So far today I've had a cup of tea that has a lot of caffeine in it and am currently drinking a diet Citrus Drop, which is basically Mountain Dew. I'm feeling better and getting ready to catalog a bunch of magazines and journals for my boss and laundry. I am hoping that I don't have to go beyond 50 mg. I'm getting short tempered and for me that's usually a bad sign.

I agree with furious george... I've been on this stuff for over a year now (gosh I think it might be pushing two) and I don't think the grogginess ever completely went away. But then I've always had sleeping problems, it might just be my underlying condition that's messing with my sleeping patterns. I don't know.

I'm on 300mg XR taken at night and all side effects wore off in a week, except for the next morning grogginess. I am stuck with that. As so many others have said I either have to push through it, drink caffeine, or take a nap and really screw up my sleep patterns.

I wouldn't put up with it except that it is working well.

Good luck

Tonight I started feeling manic again--extremely irritable, no patience, short fuse, can't concentrate on any one thing. She said if that kept up to keep increasing the dosage. I'll see how things go between now and Friday and go from there. I"m pretty sick of the mania and mixed states--especially when I know the crash that will take me into a pretty bad depression is coming if I don't get straightened out--so I'm about willing to do anything to put an end to them. I just want to feel normal. I'll take grogginess and tons of caffiene with normal if that's what it takes.

I take 350 mg at night and 3 25 mg through out the day. I started on low dosages about a year ago and slowly worked my way up. I've been on this amount for about 3 months. My side effects are: grogginess, stuffy nose, slight constipation. The grogginess only happens at night and wears off when I wake up. I do have to give myself about 9-10 hours of sleep lol. I just can't get myself up before 9 hours from this dose but its okay for me right now. I have to force myself out of bed but after 5-10 minutes I'm awake. The 25 mg pills at first made me tired but I soon adjusted to it. I go manic easy and have chronic sleep problems so I need higher doses.

I've just had to add one 25 mg xr in the morning to my 25mg xr and ir at night so I'm hoping that the grogginess doesn't last too long, im thinking im just going to have to fight it and drink lots of caffeine till my meds are changed if ever.

For me, the side effects from Seroquel (whenever I've increased the dose) last about 5 days. Ginger products (ginger ale, ginger tea) really help the queasy feeling, I've found.

At the moment I can't tolerate more than 50mg slow release at night and leaves me with a constant feeling of tiredness throughout the day. Was on 200mg at one stage and slowly weaned down. Sure 4 years ago I was on a much higher dose but I was completely manic so I didn't have the hangover effect the next day. Personally I wish I didn't have to take it but recon I'd never sleep without it. Lack of sleep used to be one of my hallmark features when beginning to go hypo now I have to look for other symptoms because boy does it make me groggy.
