I've heard that they're using starting to use lyrica in trials for bipolar. Hmmm. I hope it works for you. I hope you are feeling better, I know you were feeling quite poorly for awhile.

My dr did say that they are only starting this med on mental illness, mainly for anxiety
i told my dr today i had been feeling suicidal alot lately
instead of killing and hurting others in my head for the past weeks, now i wana hurt myself.
she suggested topamax, but we both know it's not very effective
just told the dose for tonight, hope i can sleep better >.< I don't feel like going for my work or school at all these days. just wana lie at home and do nothing - end my life.
this new med looks like pain killers in capsule. when i told them i feel like i am abusing pain killers. lol I am not a pain killer drug abuser, i keep telling myself that.
school is restarting next week and i feel a lot of stress. Plus i have this feeling of being stalked, chased and followed by black and white shadows (spirits). Sometimes I am trapped in the altered reality, their world, and i can't get out.

I took Lyrica about 6 years ago. It didn't do anything for me, but was effective for a couple people in my bipolar support group during college.

an update
when i took it at night, i didn't feel anything (e.g. drowsiness)
today i woke up late at 12 noon, and continued to feel sleepy till 3-4pm
it's just a day, so i am not expecting a miraculous release from suicidal feeling...

How long did your p-doc say that it would take to be effective?

Hang in there. As a side note, Topamax worked ready well for me.

she didn't say
she suggested that i can try it, for i-don't-know-the-purpose-for reason.
i just told her i had been feeling very suicidal
then she went through a list of possible meds...

I searched "lyrica" on this forum to find out what other people are saying about Lyrica. I am currently taking it for nerve pain and was not prescribed Lyrica specifically for anxiety, but I have found that it has helped my anxiety/depression immensely. I know that I have a different disorder than you, but I feel like if something can help you feel happier in general it can be of at least some help with other disorders.

Lyrica (pregablin) is a precursor to GABA in the brain and works similarly to benzodiazepines. I am happy to hear that it is being studied for use in patients with mental illness, as it has helped me immensely in my battle with anxiety and depression.
