Can we talk about the "S" word without getting in trouble?

Who do you want to talk about it? I talk to my husband, therapist, and certain friends.

I do not know what you mean with the "S" but have an idea. However, I'd like to ask you about CYCLOTHYMIC. My reason is only yesterday I was wondering if I could be cyclothymic and not BP but I noticed you list both. Like yesterday I thought I might only be cyclothymic; but now I believe I am indeed BP II. I made that cyclothymic question yesterday here, so you can see I did there as well. 11/12/14 Could you please explain, if possible, anything about what cyclothymic is to you, or anyone. I can't understand how a person can have both. Where is the division?

I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about and you cannot discuss that in chat or forums. It's in community guidelines. But you can absolutely discuss it with your doctor, therapist, crisis lines and people you trust. Are you in danger?

The correct response would be no.

I've seen people talk about brief experiences like when they've gone ip and mentioned past experiences and how they've climbed through past experiences.
Or I've seen people post about it saying they're going to their pdoc and may go ip due to their thoughts. They're usually marked with a trigger warning. I'm not sure if you're wanting to discuss a past experience ... You may want to pm a moderator to discuss this first and see what they say. I've not seen it just posted as a cry for help with an expectation of members being able to offer professional advice to someone in this situation. Bear in mind that's just my personal thoughts and others may argue what I've written is inaccurate. |

Tipper, when I first went to my pdoc, he diagnosed me as bipolar II. After some time with no more real manic episodes he told me he believed I had cyclothymic disorder. Then I had mild manic episode and my depressed mode after was pretty severe so I'm back to bipolar. Basically, cyclothymia is less severe from of bipolar disorder. I guess it's a fine line between the two and only a professional can tell. If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer, from my own experience, if I can. And I can't talk about "S".

I just wanted to add, to confirm what others have said, there definitely are community guidelines ... I'd recommend reading them ... Specially when it comes to "sensitive" issues ....

Well that answers me question. As does your quote beneath you text box on each post. But like I said...it is sensitive subject and against community guidelines to a degree. If it is something you want to talk about in detail, I would suggest a crisis line. I have used them before and unless you are in immediate danger....they aren't going to send rescue help so don't worry about that. And if you truly are in danger, that would be a good thing, right? If you're wanting help for these thoughts/feelings ot what have you..you have to get it. |

They don't do that unless you are actively seeking to take action, have a plan or currently doing a self-harm act.
Just talking is ok. |

It's okay to talk about how you feel with your therapist and your spouse. Speaking of "big exit" my homework this week is providing proof or lack of proof that treated bipolars have a much shorter life span. I am also looking into whether bp2 gets worse or better with age for those treated.
Back on topic, I talk about suicide with my therapist but I don't feel comfortable discussing these issue with other people as I don't want people looking at me or treating me differently. If " by dragged anywhere" you mean thrown in a mental hospital, it is very hard to admit someone unwilling to be admitted. I wish I knew that when my therapist threatened to put me in one last year! |

If you're just talking to a pdoc or therapist, and not showing intent, then it's fine to talk. Good, actually, because you can get some help to deal with it in a way that keeps you out of the hospital. A pdoc will want to prescribe meds, of course, but that's not a bad thing. If you don't like them, ask for something else. The only time they will press or force IP is if you are clearly not safe to be on your own (state or demonstrate intent, unable to function, say you don't feel you can stay safe).

I have an agreement with my T that I can talk as much as I want in as much detail as I want as long as I tell him if I am in danger or if I am intending anything. I am lucky because in my darkest times I have so far had enough insight to know when I really need help as opposed to talking about fleeting thoughts.

yeah. As stated above, it could cause a lot of others to react. If need be, please try hotline or t. Sorry if this feels like we are avoiding or pushing you away.

i tried a hotline. I know that no one is actively avoiding me or pushing me a way on purpose. Everyone needs to protect themselves. Doesn't change how a I fell. I'll keep pushing things deeper inside so that no one else has to suffer.
