So, I've been seeing a great psychologist in conjunction with my pdoc and i have been doing better. I still have hypomanic periods but they are better. My pdoc seems to think that I'll be able to go back to work in a month and I'm very excited about the prospect! My therapist wants me to go to a 2 week outpatient program at a hospital to prepare me for going back to work and I'm pretty excited. I'm a little afraid that I won't be able to handle all of the stress that comes with counseling at risk kids but hopeful at the same time. Anyway, I just wanted to share my good news because I'm so excited! Also, I want to know how people deal with stress? I get so irritable that I snap at people and end up being ineffective as a counselor. Anyway, thank you for all of the support!

This is a great report!
thank you for sharing. Hang in there...handling stress is a very personal issue. Some take deep breaths and think before they speak others have to leave the room to settle their thoughts usually deflecting back an idea is helpful when trying to maintain composure, restating paraphraz=sing thoughts so that you are clear about what is being said..also buys you some time to really think about what you really want to say. I ahve a freind of mine has long pauses before finishing conversations ...very thoughtful about her comments...this drives me crazy but I understand what she is dooing. good luck and keep us posted! bizi
