For the past 18 months or so I've been using an app on my phone call "iMoodJournal" (I have no commercial connection with the publisher!). It has proved totally invaluable to me. It has been a diagnostic aid which helped my pdoc nail down a diagnosis; it is my early warning system because I can see if I'm trending up, down, or holding steady. It is also part of my daily routine which in turn triggers other events.
What's your experience? Do you have a favourite app? What are your recommendations to people who don't (yet) use a mood journal?

I was using the Optimism app for my iPad, but I found when I feel better I quit tracking my moods so I decided to use the DayOne app and just journal about my day and my moods. I use tags to keep track of moods, medication changes, etc. The only thing it doesn't have is graphs and they would be helpful. I've been doing much better and consistanly keeping track of my moods through journalling than I was using a mood app, but I will look into iMoodJournal and see if it looks like something I would use consistently. Thanks for the info.

I'm able to use tags and enter journal text in addition to ranking my mood so I too am able to track med changes, mood changes, emotional and mental state, etc., in one place.

I've been using imoodjournal for nearly a yr. I track usually three times a day or so. People laugh when the alarm goes off as a rooster crowing. Simplest mood app I found

I KNOW I need to be keeping a mood journal but just haven't found the energy to start yet (new to this disorder and the meds and therapy). I don't have a smart phone and pen and paper seem like a hassle......but I think I don't yet mostly because I am still in the 'ignore' phase.

My old phone is about to go kaput, so maybe I can get a smart phone and start using one of the apps. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I use iMoodJournal and Optimism. There is also a DBSA Tracker. I like the first 2 because I can make notes / journal more so than in the DBSA one. iMoodJournal and Optimism also have graphs / charts that show the ups and downs better than the DBSA one though the DBSA one is VERY detailed. iMoodJournal I use up to 4 times a day (set alarms to do at same times every day) and Optimism I do every night at same time. I can export and email or print from them too to share with PDoc and T.

Yeah the DBSA one is time consuming. I like the option of a quick chart
