Hi I have been on lamotrigine for a few month now and in the last couple of months I have had a lot of stress my husband possibly has a brain tumor and I was going on a cruise and stressed about that any way I left sat morning to San Juan got there and just wanted to GI home .by that night I completely lost it ,I was anxious panicked and frightened to get on the cruise ship so I frantically got a flight home even though I felt terrible that my husband had to miss our vacation too.I felt better as soon as I got home .but now I go between fine ,sad and then I feel like I'm losing control and can't control my brain its very scary. I started on abilify this morning and have been very sleepy n dopey all day I also take 300 lamotrogine and half of 25 serequel to sleep my psych doc is gone on mat leave and not sure if she is returning and now I have to see my dumb gp. Now I don't know what meds to take now and gp is no help I have to tell him what to give me...not sure what to do just want to feel better.

Hi taymickeva3

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this situation.

I am sure that you have a good doc who means well but the best person to manage you through this current situation which may require med adjustments whilst you transition through this phase would be a pdoc.

Is there any remote possibility you can get a referal in the interum to see a new one?

Personally, I don't think that you should be waiting until your pdoc returns from maternity leave.

I think the abilify would make you sleepy at first but I hope this side effect begins to wear off.

I'm sorry to read of the struggles you're enduring presently, taymickeva3. Of course you not only have the stress over your husband's condition, & no longer having the services of your pdoc, but on top of that you're adding a new med. Starting or stopping new med's can be a challenging time all by itself.

Other than possibly finding a new pdoc, perhaps the most important thing right now is just to be good to yourself. Rest as much as possible. Give yourself time to adjust. Hopefully you also see a therapist. I would imagine that it will be important for you to have someone you can talk to about everything that's going on in your life. Keep posting here on PC as well... it can help too.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to this. I've never been on Lamotrogine. I was on Abilify for a short time. However it made everything I ate taste metallic. I just couldn't tolerate it...

Hi, so sorry for your intenseness, Lamotrigine to me has been a God send, abilify was not a good thing. I went to respiradal and Geodon. Sounds like a bunch of anxiety involved? Please seek help if you feel like your not getting the help you need.

They are anti psychotics to take away the rapid thoughts, hallucinations, and any other psychotic thinking. It's stopped my visuals and has slowed my thinking some.
