Hello everyone, long time no talk.
I'm here wondering about medication and what the goal is. Where will it help me be? I'm on seroquel and lamictal right now. My doctor is talking about me getting on lithium. I don't know if I should risk the frail thing I call normality that I have already gained. I just don't know what I"m looking for really.

I don't know what is the cost gain idea of this choice.
Best,
Lillyleaf

Hi Lillyleaf. That's a tough question. Are your mood swings severe enough for you to want to add another drug to the cocktail? Is the Dr. going to switch the Lamictal out for the Lithium?

I have learned from my own journey with Bipolar Disorder that drugs can only help so much. If you feel you are managing on the meds you are taking right now then you may want to stay where you are, if not , well it's your call. What do you want to do??
Thanks for this!

Just me, not suggesting this for anyone else but my only issue is depression and the lamictal is handling it quite well so the other meds have went bye bye...

Well, I'm living right now. I attend school, but last semester I did want to kill myself and almost got send to the hospital (like psych ward). This semester is alright so far. I feel like I have to fight to be in control all the time though. It's ever single day of my life I struggle with the want lose control. I don't know if I will. I think of suicide often even though I don't want to think such thoughts.

I don't want to lose the frail thing I call life at the moment.
I also, don't want to lose control again.

Well Lilly. It doesn't seem as though what you call life is working in your favor right now. Don't you think it would benefit you to feel a little better than suicidal and out of control? I know new drugs are scary, but you need to feel better than this.

Is there anyway you can take a semester off from school while getting used to the Lithium? That way if you don't feel it is working for you , you will have a chance to go back to p-doc and make adjustments. Just a thought.
