Anyone else have problems with texting people your emotions. Then later regretting it really really bad. Or not remembering doing it until you read it. Caseworker says grab paper first, or notepad on phone to text, if have to write something. Sometimes the urge to send those overwhelming feeling are horrible. Toooooo easy access!!!!! Biggest problem now is i'm dating someone new. Problems with hypomania , the mean state, hyper or depression all there in his face all at once in one text, WOWWWWW...

Texting anything with an emotional component can be problematic, since we don't have any body language cues to correlate with the bald written words. I think your caseworker's suggestion is a good one: write it down on paper first, to give yourself that extra moment to ask, "do I really want to text this?"

Yes I can be too impulsive at times. Emotions don't show up to well in texts, especially sarcasm. If I'm feeling emotional about something, you bet I'm making a phone call so you can hear it straight from my mouth.

Take a post it note and write " THINK FIRST" on it and stick it to your cellphone.

Put physical hurdles between you and your phone. like post it note, then put phone in a bag and placed in another room in a drawer etc... Maybe having to kind of jump through some hoops to actually lay hands on your phone will allow you time to think if you really need to send that text right Now !!!

Good luck

I often have issues with that in email. I used to have issues with that in text too, I just don't text that much anymore. But I used to be reeeeeally bad with texts.

What I find myself doing often is drafting an email to absolutely no one, but with the intention of sending it to the person I want to send it to. I write everything I'm feeling, but I make sure to leave the address line blank so I don't impulsively or accidentally click send. I have a whole bunch of emails addressed to no one in my drafts folder filled with stuff.

And yes, I'll also write it in a journal on my phone as if I'm talking to that person.

It really does help, not just to get it out of your system, but it helps you figure out what you really want to say and how you're really feeling.

Cymbalta, 60mg -- for the depression.
Latuda, 40mg -- for the paranoia (delusional type).
Adderall, 40mg XR & 5 mg reg -- for the ADD.
Xanax, .5 mg as needed -- for the anxiety.
Topamax, 50mg -- still figuring this one out.

MDD, but possibly have some form of Bipolar Disorder. Then again, I could be paranoid . . .

Well, at least I still have my sense of humor.

Yes. I know exactly how that feels. I did it constantly in my last relationship (which is a big reason it is over amongst her just flat out ignoring me most of the time anyway).

Sometimes I still do that. It's minimal though. Like I'll be thinking about someone from the past and shoot them a message even though they made it sort of clear they don't want to be my friend anymore. Or, if one of my friends talks about her boyfriend all the time and texts her about it, I can snap a little bit. One time all I said to her was "I don't care" because I was feeling angry, annoyed, and jealous all at once. He is all she ever talks about! So annoying.

I like some of the advice that has been given here though. I'd like to be able to say that it's 100% possible to control your urges, but it's really not. There are going to be those times when your emotions get the best of you. That's what having Bipolar is.
