med withdrawal

Withdrawing from effexor, lamictal and abilify. What can I expected from withdrawal I'm nauseous, teary and head zappy? My husband is withdrawing from wellbutrin also and is being an ***. How long will the withdrawal take? I talk to T Wednesday and pdoc April but until we withdraw with no fall back except a babysitter for my son. I don't want lectures. I'm to tired for that and have planned for an hour lecture on Wednesday.

Stopping any of those meds needs at least a few weeks. If you just drop them then you are asking for trouble. It will be very rough and that's an understatement

What dose was the abilify? I didn't have a problem going from 5 to 0, but any higher than that might not be fun. Effexor I think I stopped at 75 and it wasn't too bad. Lamictal I went from 200 one week to 100 the next week to 50, then 25, then 0. So no help there I'm afraid. Not sure what the withdrawals would be like. Have you looked up withdrawal symptoms online?

The Lamictal is going to be the crazy one. I almost near had a seizure because I stopped for 3 days. All them drugs at once is going to hurt hun. It takes months to come off of Lamictal successfully. It takes awhile for the brain to reboot and start making its own chemicals. Please stop.

She can't stop, the meds are 4 hours away, apparently. She doesn't have them.

Oh nooo. That's my nightmare imagined for meds. I stockpile so if I have to do an emergency taper because if the meds ran out, I can ween. God be with her, it's not going to be pretty.

One other thought, why don't yall goto the ER?

There are places in my area that will fill prescriptions in an emergency to tide you over until you can be seen by your regular psychiatrist. On the cheap too.

I quit lamictal 100 and lexapro 150 cold turkey for a few weeks. It was hell.

Effexor cold turkey is BAD but I'd say that's depending on your dose

ER possible? it is awful coming down in dosage much less than even going off of them completely, i know i tried myself with my meds and almost ended up in the ER a few weeks ago. needless to say, i'm back on my meds and feel great. if a person needs them i suggest they take them. a friend of mine was talking to me about her husband being a doctor and he suggested we look at ourselves as cars and engines and even computers, we need to be maintained, looked after for problems that could go wrong in one area as it would ruin our whole system if something was out of wack. so true we need to take care of ourselves, so if you need the meds, take them.good luck

Effexor cold turkey was the worst nightmare ever- hell, I don't even want to be in the same room as a bottle of Effexor! I was so sick. I felt like I had the flu, hungover, and riding the tilt a whirl all at the same time.

I'd make a 4 hour drive to avoid the pain of all that. Please consider it.

I went off my lamictal once, but I tapered down and it took me a month. It wasn't pleasant, even with the taper, especially when I got down to the 50mg 25mg range. If I cold turkeyed it I think I'd end up in the ER.

I cold-turkeyed Lamictal because I got the dangerous rash and don't remember many withdrawal effects, but that was a rough time in my life anyway and I don't remember a lot. Also probably I didn't care about withdrawal because I had a purple rash that felt like a burn and just wanted it to go away.

Withdrawing from Zoloft was the worst one for me, I felt horrible. And my mom says Effexor withdrawal is pretty bad too.

Getting any and restarting can be dangerous to at this point . I have less then $5 and no way to drive there and back. So far I feel dizzy, zappy brain, and tingly but I have no way to get extras because I rely on insurance. If I hold out until Wednesday maybe t can help.

I quit mine cold turkey and it cause me a HUGE mixed episode that I am just coming off of now.

Symptoms of quitting cold turkey? shakes, heart palpitations, huge anxiety, extreme panic attacks, It felt as if I were withdrawing from heroin. I haven't tried heroin, but this is what imagine it feels like.

I am back on meds and I was off for a month. Mixed mania ever since.

Then it took me a month to titrate up back to normal lamictal dosage. And I am not on lexapro yet. It will take some time before my pdoc can add it.

I had brain zaps, etc., coming off effexor, and I had even tapered down over several weeks. It was nasty. Just hang in there. It will improve, eventually. Different for everyone, so I won't tell you how long it took for me.

Same here. Brain zaps, feeling like my brain had to "catch up" when I'd move my head too fast, nausea, fatigue. I started taking a bunch of fish oil while I was withdrawing and I felt like it helped, but who knows!

Thats pure hell. I usually only take what I need with me when I go someplace so I don't forget them, but thats from experence. I went though the same thing but with different meds. Pure hell.

I talked to T. He wants me to get back on the meds asap. He wanted me to call the nurses line and talk to the pharmacist. He's very concerned that I wont be able to catch myself when I spin out and I'll end up sectioned. So my idea. Get the meds to restart if needed. I have about a week left in this horrible withdraw then I'll decide when I'll re-start. I need to talk to my pdoc.

I though you were able to get your meds today? if you have them why not start now like your doc wants?
