What can I do to pass the time? I feel like if I don't have work or workout I just lay in bed. I barely even watch tv anymore. My psychologist recommended meetup and to be more social, I just have no idea what to do and some of it is anxiety based. Any suggestions to eliminate this boredom?

I'm a terrible artist but I find painting soothing. I went to Michaels and got like a starter kit.
I also enjoy making glitter/calm down jars. (If interested, I can tell you how to make them).
When I'm bored I'll sometimes read or I'll start a new series on netlflix. It helps me to get into shows sometimes and not spend time thinking about everything. If you need some show suggestions, I can give those, too.

I like to also watch tutorials on youtube.. you can watch anything on there.. funny videos.. kids doing silly things.. animal videos.. makeup/hair tutorial videos...

Do you have any interests? You need something to get your anxiety out - thats why I suggest painting or some type of art & craft. You could definitely listen to some music or maybe make a sooth box?

ARGGG... I understand.... It's really hard but I force myself to do a zig saw puzzle, go to the store and wander, do some laundry, just stand outside and observe what's around me. I hope other people post so I can get some ideas!

My T told me once to make a sooth box.. decorate a pretty box and put something that stimulates all of your senses in it, so you can take it out when you are having an episode and use it to calm down. I haven't done it yet but I thought it was a good idea.. like a mixed cd of your favorite songs, favorite scent, favorite snack, something soft, etc.

I work and really just turn off at home,, it is anxiety in my case.. I can no longer read and tv though ok is nothing special,, I don't do this so take it with a grain of salt.. they say volunteering is the best way to get out into the world again.. find something you believe in and go for it,, keep your responsibilties low and your time short.... let us know if you find a way to beat this....

When I was feeling super depressed like that and didn't want to get out of bed my therapist pretty much made me take NAMI's (National Alliance of the Mentally Ill) Peer-to-Peer class. I'd tried to get into IOP and couldn't find one so we made our own with 2 counseling visits and the class. The class was well done and did have me interacting with people every week. Later on I could have done (did for a while) a support group from my class but it was too far to drive and the group liked to go out and eat and things that I couldn't afford. I have a degree in psychology, a master's in a psych related field and worked in long-term psych for several years so the class was nearly entirely things I already knew but my therapist said he didn't care, I needed to go. And so I did and it was a good experience. I learned something about how sick I was when I had to knit through each class because I couldn't sit still. It was a time I needed to learn as much as possible about how sick I was because I was dealing with going on disability and stopping work and I needed to learn to trust that was the right decision. I knew it was but it was hard to believe.

Lately I've been doing this adult coloring book I got at a craft store. I don't really enjoy it exactly but it does keep my hands busy and I really need that right now. They always have these in the hospital and I hate doing them there too but always do.

I go for a walk most days; I borrow my mom's dogs to do that with some company.

I read, even when I know I'll have to re-read the book later because my mind isn't functioning well enough to process it now.

I do swagbucks which takes up 1-3 hours per day usually (it takes whatever you're willing to put into it). It's an online thing where you do things and earn credits toward gift cards or paypal. It gives me a little extra money for things I want to do as well as Christmas, my nieces' birthdays, etc that SSDI just doesn't cover. It's not the fastest way to earn online but it is worth it to me to have that daily routine and to get about $50/month in gift cards.

I knit sometimes. I watch a lot of stuff on youtube. I've found there are a lot of documentaries on there that are pretty interesting. I have Netflix and watch that too although I'm not a huge user of either because noise gets to me.
