How do you know if the reason you are sleeping WAY too much is because of meds, depression, or both?

Certain meds, when increased in dose, initially as they're kick starting a higher dose within me, will cause me to slow down, and pretty rapidly, as each day passes. This is usually to stop a high - by means of example, seroquel (AP) would dramatically increase thus forcing me back.

When depressed - I have no energy for ANYTHING and I want to sleep all the time.

Right now I'm coming down from a high.

I "feel" energy somewhat but my body is being held back.

When I'm depressed - it's the miserabe thoughts that go with it and with the sleeping too much.

Right now I'm not depressed. I'm hurt. There's a clear cut difference

Oh I probably pick (c) in this multiple choice scenario

I'd say both.

You are on so many uppers that I would be surprised if it is meds very much. I know the klonopin makes you sleepy but sleepy enough to make you really tired over top of the stimulants? That seems unlikely to me. (Keep in mind that 2 mg of klonopin doesn't sedate me so I'm not completely unbiased here).

I'm guessing but with those meds that's going to stay my guess.

I don't know what the reason is for me either but the last week or so I've only been out of bed a few hours a day. Just sleeping my life away.

All I want to do is sleep. And it's not meds. It's depression.

In my experience, med sleep usually leaves a groggy hang over type feeling, and my depression doesn't.

Also, with med's I remember being hungry for sleep, whereas depression I either actively refuse to get out of bed, or I just pass out without actually feeling sleepy or tired.

Thanks Supanova, I sometimes think the only reason this beast hasn't got me yet is due to my insight. So im very thankful for it and share it whenever possible and or welcome.

Bring dragged out of bed is a good idea, even if you can only stomach an hour or two. Every bit of fight left in you counts.

I usually just commit to an hour and take it from there....

I hate meds that makes me sleep for hours, like APs, so much that I won't/can't take them, or any other pill that does that for that matter.

Usually med induced sleep happens right after the meds are taken, yould think. I quit Seroquel because I'd sleep 20 hours after I took a dose, plus the headache didn't help none.

Depression consumes me into a dark place that I sleep away.

Well I got out of bed at 6am and havent gone back yet. I will meditate at some stage today which I tend to do in bed. I havent been very active - besides going outside, saying hello to the dogs and texting people but Im just aiming for staying out of bed today I think. Mind you I did make breakfast which I havent done for ages (usually just have some fruit) so Im already more active than I have been. Cant say my mood is all that great but I have plenty of distractions I can use rather than bed.

How is everyone else going?
