they are just so freaking needy. They're like water me water me water me and I'm like uuuugghhhhh I just watered you three weeks ago buck up plants.
The plants aren't actually talking to me fyi. That is not the problem I'm having. My problem is that I just hate having so many things to do and the freaking plants are so annoying. I love having them. I started having plants when I was supes manic and was reading up on how to bring positive energy into your dwelling. It seemed important since my dwelling had evil in it (or so I thought). Plants seemed like as good a thing as any to combat evil. And strangely enough the ones I got then have all survived.... But I feel like lately other ones just keep dying. It is so obnoxious. I have no idea what this thread is about. Um Anybody else hate their plants? Ha |

I am with you on a love/hate relationship with them but my 'murderous' side seems to always win and they die off. I WANT them as I love the atmosphere they bring and the extra oxygen, but yep.... they remind me to much of my own neediness I guess... LOL>... I either OVER do them or UNDER do them and they die....... hmmmm, bet there is a something deep behind that for us.... LOL

I can't handle any plants or pets unfortunately, outside of two exceptions:
1. For plants, if they can thrive outside on their own nature, awesome, I will enjoy them in their proper season. 2. Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. Subjectively adorable to me and can survive literally for weeks if I forget they even exist. |

ok, since we have ventured into the carelessness of 'pets' also... LOL... You guys will LOVE this one.
I teach 3rd grade and bought a hermit crab for my class at the beginning of last year. Weeeeeeeeeeell, I got a nice LARGE 40 gallon tank, but apparently they need more water then I thought and he didn't even make it to the first day of school (my murder of my hermit crab is NOT the funny part. Yes, I am ashamed of myself for the neglect.... if I'm not careful, I can manage to kill even plastic plants)! The awesome part is in the hermit crab mishap, I found a pet I CAN manage.................... the GHOST of a hermit crab!!!!!!!!!!!! Seeeee, after a few days of walking around in the tank, he made AWESOME tracks all over the tank. Before I realized he was no longer with us, I thought he was just burrowing during the day. SOOOOOO when school started, I never directly answered the "where is the crab at" question, but deflected to the fact that hermit crabs are nocturnal animals. The entire year the kids 'assumed' we had a pet hermit crab that ran around while they were at home and slept during school and nobody was the wiser.... yes, again I am ashamed.. but you better believe I have that tank with those tracks all set up for this year.. just no crab neglect needed this year... I am ready for my carefree class pet ![]() |

lt12345 oh thank you for that story. I needed a laugh and that was a good one. That is so funny and so awesome (not for the crab but the "carefree class pet" part. I hope nobody ever decides to help you by cleaning the cage.

I have a pit bull. He's just a big baby. Always been a dog lover myself. My wife has a garden. Funny thing.. I told her 3 days ago there is no way I'd want a garden because of all the maintenance and upkeep there is!.. Rather put food in a dog bowl twice a day

Similar situation that I'm currently in.
Bought a pack of sunflower seed and large bag of compost several months ago, that was what I considered as a decision made during Manic state. I felt so positive and intended to grow my own sunflower so that I could give it to someone during valentine's day in hope that it could patch things up. Unfortunately, despite giving my attentions on my plants, my seeds did not sprout even after 2 weeks even though I placed my pot under the sunlight and generously watered it. Soon after, my life began to get busy with commitments, work and coupled with depressive state. I simply gave up watering it or even sow a new seed for another attempt. I just hated it when it doesn't work out, and it became more of a burden than something that elevates my mind. I gave up on growing a sunflower for a particular someone because I felt I can't change anything after ruining her impression of me that could have been due to my bipolar state of mind. Each time I refuse to water my plants anymore, I actually feel guilty for abandoning a task which was meant to test me in life. I got fed-up and turned the pot upside down to empty the soil's content. |

I understand I have tried for 2 years to grow a garden and no matter what I do my plants die. So I've determined if it's electronic or mechanical I got it. If it's a plant forget it it's a death sentence for the poor thing.

And wow. I have a visual of you walking through fields and everything shriveling and turning dry and brown as you go by. I guess I don't actually know in my mind how big a 50 foot radius is. Is it bigger than a field? |

Tooooo funny! Wow. That's genius. I wonder if it would work on my kids...but be a dog. You know I'd like rip up some toys at whatever and scatter some fur and then all day be like "the doggy is sleeeeeeeping shhhhh" that would actually work for a cat |

Several years ago I was all into starting a balcony garden. Got lots of pots, dirt and plants. Mostly native plants but some chili and tomato plants too. I nurtured them though the summers of 100 degree weather in the winter I covered them against the freezing weather and hauled several inside. Then I stopped going on my balcony because I got somewhat paranoid. I havnt been out there in about 2 1/2 years and the Cacti are thriving and overrunning their pots the others died out and weeds have started growing. The fake butterflies and decorations have faded but still it looks ok out there. Funny part is all my indoor plants died.
