Has any of your guys or girls psych prescribed you a medicine after complaining of feeling numb or nothing? Curious if there is something out there... So far every AD I've tried has swung me into mania

Are you on any other meds? Is it possible a med you're currently on is causing the feeling? Things may need to be adjusted

I'm on lamictal seroquel and latuda.... These meds have made me stable but I've also become increasingly numb/nothing

I've been on lamictal the whole time and not felt quite this way. Latuda was the new one added where I started getting stable

I'm not trying to invalidate you, just honestly wondering, but are there things in your life right now that you believe would make you feel engaged, pleased, interested, etc if you were capable of feeling those things?

I've had plenty of periods in my life where my life was empty (including currently). I wasn't numb but I was empty. I find they can feel quite similar, but have different remedies. I think this happens especially (for me) when I've been faking my way through life for a while, trying to get along, blend in and survive, and then suddenly reality hits, and I'm not truly happy or fulfilled with my life. It might be hectic, or 'full' in the sense of a crazy schedule and lots of things I need to do, but emotionally it can still be quite empty.

Just wondering if you have ruled this out yet?

I agree that Lactimal makes you feel numb.

I agree it may be time for a med change. One of the meds you are on could be causing the numb feeling. I would recommend talking to your pdoc and see what they say.

For now with best wishes

I can't take ADs either, they swing me more into a mixed episode. I'd take numb over mixed any day of the week. I feel more numb now than I did when I was on both lamictal and Latuda. I quit the latuda because I've a hang up about being on APs. I'm kinda rethinking it though, it seems like the latuda gave me a bit of a lift. Do ask your Pdoc about it.

Lamictal doesn't make me feel numb (I don't think anything could make me feel numb. Lol!). But it makes me feel very flat. It's a very flat inducing medication. For me anyway. It's not bad. Just... flat. Like a wall flat. I don't know. Flat. But not really in a bad way. It's also very cold feeling. I don't know. It's a cold feeling medication too.

sidestepper - I have a thing about AP's too. Like I don't want to be on them. I don't like them at all. I don't like getting fat. I just don't like them.

loophole - AD's tend to manic me too, so I don't know what to do really. There's nothing less numbing than a AD in my opinion. Seroquel doesn't numb me, but I obviously don't like it, and don't recommend it. It makes my concentration and focus very bad. I guess I don't know what to suggest so this is pointless, but I hope your pdoc can recommend something that will work.

I found that being on too many psych meds made me numb or even depressed. When I pared down the list I began feeling a wider array of emotions than before. Especially with APs. I went from 3 to 1 and 1 8 a little numbing but not nearly as bad as 3. And I agree about Lamictal. It also gave me bad brain fog.

My opinion is Lamictal "typically " just works on the depression side of things ..

Taking both Seroquel an Latuda they are both atypicals ...I would imagine they could flatten you like a pancake

If it were me I would talk to my pdoc about backing off a bit on the doseage(s) Even small changes can make a huge difference.

I hope your feeling better soon

When I complained of feeling "flat" my doctor prescribed a low dosage of mirapex (pramipexole) to add to my lamictal, abilify, and lithium. It seemed to help a little at first and did not, as far as I know, induce any mania. I used it for quite a while and then stopped because I felt it really wasn't necessary any more.

It may just be the dosage. When I first bumped up to 400mg from 200mg of Tegretol, I became a zombie. I called my pdoc and he misinterpreted it as me still cycling. He did not understand that I don't feel like that during my depressions. And you know what was so frustrating? Not being able to cry! It's such a natural thing to do! So when I went into see him, I literally made a fist and slammed the desk to get his attention. He was again repeating the cycling thing. Well he paid attention that's for sure!

Of course I wouldn't suggest that but I think pdocs get so stuck into their little world that they forget being friendly and energetic or sad/feel empathy at appropriate times is necessary to thrive at work and in relationships.

Well you know yourself best so ultimately you should only put what you feel comfortable with, in your mouth.

I agree with this, much more flat than numb, I misspoke earlier, ...
