this title does not refer to drugs, just fyi
my mood has been improving from deep depression 24/7 to more positive day-time feelings.
however, almost all the time, in the back of my mind i am reminded that it won't last, as in the evening time i get very depressed again.
this is so frustrating because i would like to simply enjoy feeling okay, not even great, but just okay. you could say it "blows my high", for lack of a better term.
does anyone else experience this? feeling disappointed and let down so often.
thanks guys

Hi Jules, I am constantly thinking "How long will this good feeling last." and you are right it does have a tendency to ruin the good times. It helps that I have my wife to talk to since she tells me "Worrying is not going to help, just enjoy the good feeling while it lasts." She is right and if I finally get a decent med-combo then the good feelings will last longer, it just takes time.

I just started on Lamictal 2 weeks ago and I slept 6 1/2 hours last night which is a record for me. I usually only get 3 hours per night.

Patience is the key Jules, don't let worrying about something you can't change blow your high!

Thanks for this!

I feel that way every day. It's why I'm so scared to go back to work. I'm afraid I'm going to crash again. I think it just takes time to reinforce that your treatment is working and you are going to be okay.

Maybe if you know you are going to be down in the evenings you can start an activity that you enjoy in the afternoon and keep yourself distracted-artwork, watching movies, etc. or you could do something productive like cleaning or taking care of bills so you can tell yourself that you accomplished something today.

You should look at this in a positive way. It sounds like you're slowly cominy out of your depressed state. That is good. As others have said, just focus on how you feel okay and try not to worry about whether or not you're going to crash again. (((hugs)))
