So I just started one of these coloring books a few days ago. I had heard of them before, and I was walking around WallyMart and saw them. There was 5 or 6 different ones. I picked the Mandala one. I love it. I've been going through some major changes at work and home, so my anxiety has been high sometimes. I am able to stop thinking, and just focus on coloring and planning out my colors as I go. It's been helpful for me, thus far at least.

I bought an adult colouring book a few weeks ago. It's a biology one. I only used it once because the colour kept bleeding through to all the other pages. I need to buy some colouring pencils and ditch the pens.

I am a firm believer of the healing properties of colors but I think I would just paint abstract stuff rather than use coloring books. Just my 2 cents.

I do mandalas I get from printmandala.com with colored pencils. I find it to be a very soothing, almost meditative activity. In fact I'm going to go work on one now.

Barnes and noble has a bunch to choose from for adults.

I have adult books to work on and kid books to color in with crayons when the others are too overwhelming

Any time ive been ip the activity coordinator left mandalas and other pictures to colour. Thats what got me through my ip time. Just a few days ago i was in chapters book store and there was a whole table of adult colouring books. I bought myself a couple then went to staples for pencils and markers and ive been able to colour my way through some anxiety and stress. I find it soooooo soothing. I cant wait to do more and if i cant sleep tonight thats exactly what ill be doing.

I bought one from B&N, and it has been a soothing experience. I really bought one because it reminded me of when I was in high school, I would make these sort-of stained glass designs during class, and then color them in a home. It was fun for me. Sometimes when I do the coloring books, I am feeling really tense, which kind of ruins my concentration. So far, nothing is ruined.

I have a hello kitty coloring book that I use. Lol.

I should get an adult one though. I really enjoyed coloring mandalas when I was IP.

I love coloring. I used to color those black velvet poster things from the hobby store. I also coloring books of famous artwork and also Celtic knots. I don't currently color because my kids steal all of my supplies and coloring books. Haha.

I just got my first adult coloring book yesterday. I ordered one from Amazon with a pack of 50 coloring pencils. I already colored two mandalas. I really enjoy it. Who knew coloring could be so much fun as an adult?

I love to color! Always have. And, yes, it helped me through IP every time too. I need to find me some adult ones. Glad to hear Wally World has them....

Mine is full of mandalas. I love it. It distracts me and helps me sit down and relax since I can't ever just stop, physically or mentally.

I am so excited! I dug up some coloring books I thought I had lost. They are fairy designs and fashions. I also found two Disney coloring books. Add on my two MLP (yes, I am a fan of My Little Pony, a Pegasister!) coloring books and now I have a selection of 6 books to choose from when I feel the need to color!

So glad I kept my big thing of crayons too. It has 150 colors in it. I also have 132 color pencils from a huge set I bought, plus 18 more on their way. That will make a total of 150 different colored pencils.

Can you tell I take my coloring seriously?

Do men generally color or is there any particular things they do?

I'm a guy and I make small rock sculptures and delicate wire trees and flowers.

Has anyone ever tackled a large scale coloring, as in poster size or larger? I know they are available.

Ripose, there are so many stigmas on what men and women should and shouldn't do that its just plain ridiculous. If you feel like coloring is what you really want to do, then go for it, stigmas be dammed. Do what makes you happy. After all, if you're depressed all the time, any small amount of happiness is definitely something to hold on to.

When I was IP there were men happily coloring away. We had quite the group of color-ers this last time.

I have other things I do to keep my hands busy, like knitting and sewing, but when I reach a certain point of agitation/mania coloring is about all I can do to make myself sit still. I don't even really love doing it but I will do it for hours if I am at that point.

I have 3 books. One is a lot of just designs and is best when I have a low ability to focus. I have to work at not making "rules" that I get upset if I mess up, like having 2 reds touching in anyway (I have some OCD tendencies) One is mandalas which is fun but I have trouble with OCD-ishness making me upset if I mess up the patterns I start in it. So if I'm beating myself up a lot with depression/mixed/dyphoric mania I don't do it. Then my mom just got my butterflies which are kind of intricate but nice because it's hard to get into the OCD trap. All of them work when I am not in the right place to knit or sew.
