My suicidal thoughts and my want for bad things to happen to me are increasingly common in my everyday life. I find it hard to cope some days. What should I do?

Do you have a therapist? I mean, I know they aren't miracle workers, but it could help a little bit. Sometimes talking through things can help to pinpoint triggers and help (at least begin to) turn things around.

If you don't have a therapist or anyone to talk to, feel free to shoot me a message (if you can, I think you need a certain number of posts before you can do that, but if you can't and want to talk, let me know and I'll PM you my email). I mean, I'm no therapist, but I do have plenty of experience in being a sympathetic ear.

Anyway, hang in there, friend. We're here for you.

I agree with considering going to a therapist. If you do not have insurance there are programs to help with that. There are also support groups too that you can consider. Contact your local Dept of Mental Health and Google "NAMI". They have location in many cities and have mental health resources.

You can also see if there is a crisis line or hotline in your area. That way you can talk to somebody that can help you with your thoughts. I also agree with having a therapist to work on why you're having them to begin with.

Best of luck and hang in there.

Thank all of you for your suggestions.. but I'd like to add that I'm only 14. It's hard for me to talk to my parents or doctor... I'm really shy

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I was suicidal at a young age too and no one was ever aware of my issues. It's really a really hard to talk about. I know for me I must have practiced feeling my therapist (in my head) a million times. All it takes is one moment of bravery. One moment of pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to tell someone you trust. while it is difficult it will only be beneficial for you in the long run! Hang in there and feel free to pm me

I'm so sorry your experiencing such heavy emotions at such a young age. It must be very hard to make sense of it all & I urge you to go to some form of therapy. Reach out to a teacher you can trust at school? There are people that can help you & you are not alone. The last thing you want is to act on impulse & not be able to take back that action. Feel free to pm me also.

At 14, I shared my feelings of suicide with a teacher.
Possible trigger:
I certainly behaved much differently than I felt in the beginning. But, sharing with the teacher, then the counselor, was the first step in my seeing a psychiatrist and getting a major depressive disorder diagnosis. A year later, after psychotic and manic (mostly mixed) symptoms, I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

Anyway, I share this to let you know there is help available to you if you reach out. As others have mentioned, if there is a teacher you trust, that is a wonderful place to start. It is so hard to deal with those feelings when you are so young. I remember. I lost a lot of friends and I never understood why. It took time for me to understand that people just don't understand. However, those who stand by you, will continue to do so and you can trust them. I wish you the best. Please continue to come here and share as much as you need. You need support. You will find it here.
