I've accepted the inevitable and will work out details to start tapering my Seroquel dose with my pdoc on Monday. I even have a date to propose starting the taper. It looks like this is going to happen.
Anyway, I've done a lot of reading on the internet and one side effect concerns me. I've read a number of accounts of bedwetting. Is this people who had an extreme event and therefore aren't representing most people or do I need to add extra waterproofing to my bed? I'm perfectly willing to wear pull-up Depends if I have to as well but protecting my mattress is really important to me and I can't stand the thought of peeing on it and having something leak. Plus I worry that if I sleep with Depends for a month on a constant dose and decide I'm clear that I could have a bad surprise after that. I know I need waterproof pillow covers for drooling. And I know that when you have a bedwetter you should double the waterproof cover. So do I really need to do that? I'm fixating on this side effect to avoid thinking about the Seroquel taper.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but I have a good friend on Clozaril and he started wetting the bed as a side effect. But he also told me he's on a medication to prevent the bedwetting episodes. Sorry I don't know what the name of the med is.

Thanks for the answer. The problem with this drug is that it's not used much and so my pdoc has used it with 3 people. So I ask about a side effect and all she knows is what 3 people have experience. But the internet is full of horrendous stories about any medication there is. So it's hard to know what to trust and I really appreciate the personal story (and hope for more!).
The med that helps with bedwetting is something I can't take because it interacts with my MAOI. Hopefully there is a creative solution for that. Thank you!

I have taken Clozaril 150 mg since 2007 and I have experienced bedwetting perhaps once or twice a month. I started wearing disposable underwear to bed so it is a minor inconvenience.
What is more bothersome for me is the drooling which I experience most nights. I awaken with my pajama top and pillowcase wet so I keep spare pillows in bed. On the bright side though I have read that people who suffer from dry mouth have more dental caries so I guess it balances out. When I first started taking Clozapine it was very sedating but that is better now.

I've had terrible problems with my teeth on Seroquel b/c of dry mouth so I told my dentist this week that he should be happy about what is happening b/c I'm going to be on a med that causes over-salivation. He was although he was nice about asking me about what I have to go through to get on it. I'm hoping that Clozaril will stop the multiple fillings per year I've been doing for years.
Have you tried atropine drops for the excess salivation? I read somewhere that this can help although pharmacists will look at you weird since they are normally eye drops. I'd also think cogentin might help the excess salivation and the nighttime incontinence since it is so drying? Are you glad that you went on it? Have you had other side effects? Have you had weight gain? I'm hoping some of this SEroquel weight will come off and I'd be really happy if it stayed off. My pdoc says she hasn't seen a lot of weight gain on it but I'm not sure how she is defining "a lot". I want none. It would help if I feel better and make meals again but the Seroquel seems to have picked a place that I will weigh and I stay there no matter what. Sorry for so many questions. I'm really anxious about this based on things I've read online and I know that's not a good idea. I'm not reading online now but the damage is done. (Plus I've failed so many meds that a new one is scary). Thank you.
