My doctor wants me to do a partial hospitalization program for depression. My depression has been severe and meds haven't been helping.

Have you done a partial hospitalization for depression specifically? What was it like? Do you feel like it helped?

In most partial programs they come around and pick you up, that way all you got a do is get dressed and fall into the van, that part is particularly helpful for me. So is the minimum interaction with others there....it gets better after a while you might find yourself looking forward to the pick up and actually talking.....then you can drop down to outpatient which is less structure. I found it very helpful when I'm depressed .

Partial was great for depression for me if for no other reason than it gave me somewhere to be for six hours. I couldn't just lay in bed. You also see a doctor or pnp once a week or more if needed. There a groups that can help you find ways to manage depression. Sometimes there is a process group that you can use to talk about what's going on.

I've been in php a few times and more often than not found it helpful.

Exactly so--staying home won't work. Though everyone is a patient--with real issues--the interaction between everyone is safe and comforting. It may seem like a progressive high school--without tests--where everyone talks.

I felt the entire staff was kind, supportive, got to know patients by name in the passing periods, and that after an opening period, people are just friends even if they have different psychological issues.
