I've mentioned before here that my symptoms have increased recently and my grandfather passed away in late November. Now my father has announced yesterday that he has filed for divorce. For the past six years, until July of this year, I had not had a relationship with my father. I feel like I have given him a second chance at being a parent and he has completely rejected that, after acting like he accepted it. I feel like I'm a teacup that has been chinked gradually and now is completely shattered.

I'm sorry. My family is going through a lot of stuff this year too and it's very hard. Last year what we were going through was even worse, I think because it was new and shocking stil, and nobody really felt like doing it. This year we're doing the usual stuff and it's good but it is also sad to do something that we know won't be part of the old traditions because those are gone. I don't know what to say except I feel for you. It's not an easy time.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It would be nice if we had some say in our parents' lives, since they seem to want to continue to have a say in ours.

Just one rhetorical question. What definition of parent are you expecting. Your definition, or his?

I know it doesn't really help much, but I'm sorry you're going through this difficult time.
