Hi ColeM, yes I feel stuck and it hurts. I'm supposed to be filing for bankruptcy and haven't done one thing to prepare in over a month. It overwhelms me even though I know I just need to get it done.

Indecisiveness is a pretty common trait of depression. It stinks.
Thanks for this!

Indecision, in combination with lack of motivation/drive, used to plague me terribly. I don't know what happened, but it stopped. The only thing I can think of is that it is related to my meds finally working as they should(?).

Before the indecision went away my therapist suggested something called the "5 minute rule." I don't remember how, exactly, she described it... I tried looking for it online to link it here, but all I could find was a 5 minute rule in regards to procrastination, not indecisiveness. But, if I remember correctly, it was something like, give yourself 5 minutes to think, dwell or whatever, but then either make a decision/take action or move on... or something like that. (If anybody knows what I'm talking about, please don't hesitate to school me on this.)

Of course, my indecision was for random daily crap, not major life decisions. Still quite crippling though.

Yes I have memory issues. It's horrible! I forget things I want to say five seconds after thinking it. Same when I'm writing something. It sucks.

Memory sucks but that is due to meds. It's a running joke in my family. I've literally forgotten movies that I've seen. I've watched them again thinking it was the first time. LOL

As far as the indecisiveness, that isn't my issue, but that is do to being very Type A. That sometimes gets me in trouble because I can make reckless spur of the moment decisions. My BIL has the indecisiveness severely and was always linked to depression. Still lives at home at 41 years old! Come to find out it looks like he is on the very end of the Aspargers spectrum. You would never know it talking to him. He's very smart and intellectual. He just literally cannot make life decisions and is frozen. Almost like he is tangled in barbed wire. Are you BP?

God yes, and how! It's immobilizing.

I also find that they combine in a frustrating way. I'm an overthinker, and things loop and collide all over my brain. I can't filter, sort or prioritize. Can't hold a thought long enough to do so.

They talk about black and white thinking. But mine is overwhelmingly gray. Most things I feel two (or more) ways about. I can't come to rest on them. There's always a "but" or qualifier. Virtually everything is afloat in a sea of ambivalence. Depression can absolutely be a factor, but my brain seems so wired this way that it's hard to tell the difference. It does seem that the more I'm lost with the tiny decisions, the more likely depression is playing a role.

And memory? Ha. Hashi, I have the movie thing too. Have you seen that? Um, maybe?? Not sure. So we will get it from the library or something. Sometimes, there will be a vague sense of remembering, but it's like new because I can't remember what's going to happen(!) Or I'll be watching and... "Oh! Yeah! I remember that wall!" Story's lost on me, but I tend to remember visuals.
