How many of you live alone?
I love living alone. It's good for my sanity and I don't have to worry about someone else doing things I don't like or interrupt the flow of how I chose to maintain my household. However, there are a few times where it can be a little lonely. The family I have down here I don't particularly care for. My sister's family I would prefer to be around, but they're about 30 minutes away and have so much going on trying to get ready for the new baby and taking care of the six year old they already have. I see them when I can. Are there any things you all do in times like this (where there's nothing to do)? I love watching tv and watch so much, it pretty much my source of entertainment, and it's hard to give up since there is so much to watch! But I figured it's not exactly healthy to just lay on the couch all day watching tv. Especially since the weather is getting a little warmer. When I am stable, I do like to leave my house and shop for things I need, go to a coffee shop and read and/or journal. I'm not the biggest fan of coloring. I try and do yard work (still trying to adjust to that since buying this place ![]() I'm not exactly looking for friendships or relationships, just other ways to get me out of the house. My cat can only say so much, and she's starting to bore me lol. Last edited by gina_re; Apr 13, 2016 at 08:45 AM. I live alone and I love it! I don't do well living with others, and even my T agrees that it's best for me to live alone. I had a roommate last year, and it was absolute hell for the most part. I wanted to kick her out at more than one point, but couldn't because I needed her half of the rent.

Having lived with roommates for 14 years I love living on my own. No other people's mess lying around. Not being able to watch tv in living room when I want to. No unexpected guests when you are trying to sleep. I should of lived by myself a long time ago.
Downside is the extra 700 bucks I have to pay by myself in rent, utilities and cable.

I live alone and I find it really lonely but at the same time satisfying. I watch a lot of tv/dvds could start my own cinema in my wee flat. I try to get out once a day (sometimes this can be difficult). I have tried colouring in and jigsaws but they are stressful for me. Reading is a no no my concentration span is zero when it involves books. What about arts and crafts or learning something new?

What about hamma beads or crayon art (all you need are canvas/crayons/hair dryer and a glue gun) I'm rubbish at art but can do these both :-)

I'll just give a long list of ideas:
Knitting Going for a walk or getting exercise Cooking gourmet meals Computer games Phone games Online shopping Drawing/painting (there are loads of tutorials on YouTube) Blogging / Vlogging YouTube Write (like a novel or something) Read (news articles, books, scientific journals... whatever) Be inventive -- build something for your house (maybe for your cat?) or your friends/family Online tutoring Get a puppy (guaranteed to keep you busy!) -- you have a cat already Join more forums Join a meetup (meetup.com) |

If you want to get out of the house more, you could always join a gym or a social club on meetup.com. My gym actually does loads of outdoor activities when the weather is good. We go to parks and stuff.
Some gyms or clubs have outdoor swimming pools, which are always nice. I love going swimming. It's also fun to ride a bike, but I might be a little biased ![]() Non-exercise stuff you can do is take a shopping trip somewhere, see historical sites, go to museums, join a support group, explore an area you haven't been (e.g., maybe you've never been to a neighboring city), etc Your coffee shop idea is a good one. Also, you can try little cafés... like those boutiquey ones! They have a similar vibe to your local coffee shop, except they're geared toward lunch (usually sandwiches and wraps). I love those places. ![]() |

I love the museum idea!!! I've been wanting to go to several and I completely forgot about that. I live in the D.C. area, so there are so many to visit around here! Gracias!

![]() I've heard the Holocaust Museum is a must-see. I've always wanted to go to that one, but have never gone when I was in DC. I heard it's very moving. |

If you are into reading and libraries you could look into book clubs or what activities your local library has going on.
Me personally, if I lived alone and lived near D.C., I'd go to the Library of Congress and disappear. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk |

I went to the spy museum years ago and loved it. Might do it again when I go next month.

I live alone with a cat also. I too enjoy not having others around to bother me or worry about the conditions I live in. being alone is great for the most part. luckily for me I have my sister and cousins and grandparents I'm close with that all live within 10 minutes from me.

My last roommate was an alcoholic who collected bad things, so i kicked him out and got a cat. I like living alone for the freedom. I can take over my living room with a painting for a month, or play guitar at 2am. It gets lonely sometimes though, and expensive.
walks are a good outdoor activity what interests you? maybe you can find a meetup on it, or a free class. I love free classes. |

I love living alone too. I like enjoying the sunshine too but am too weak from a long Winter depression to do anything that requires exertion. One thing i like to do is take our train -- not to go anywhere just to enjoy the ride and the view. I take long bus rides too but the bus is not as pleasant. I also like to sit outside in the sun in a lawn chair and listen to tunes when i take my dog out.

![]() ![]() I really want to get my backyard how I want it so that I can sit back there to read and relax. But it will definitely take more time and money to get it exactly how I want it. The spring/summer project now is plant some bushes in the front yard. I don't want my neighbors thinking I'm odd with the way I have it looking now! ![]() |

I want to thank every single person who contributed to my quest for spring and summer entertainment. These are all wonderful ideas and I'm going to try and do as much as I can. This is a great start for me to keep the positive momentum going so I don't go back to sleeping the days away. I really am appreciative. Thank you all so much!!! And if there are any more out there, keep 'em coming!!

I used to photograph weddings for free when I was younger ... got a lot of free cake .... taking pictures can be a good hobby ... of course you have the cost of the camera but at least the "film" is free now .... if you want to try buy used ... if you like can always upgrade ... even phone cameras can be a start ... post them on facebook or just for your own enjoyment ...
