I do this, but I finally decided to start getting up at that time and do things. It works out, and sometimes I even sleep past 3AM now. I decided it's my body telling me it's had enough sleep.

I wake up at 2. I forced myself to lay there last night...no TV no computer, no nothing. I drifted off and on and woke up firmly at 6. I'm try to train myself from 10-6. But I am falling asleep at about 8

1) You are NOT alone.
2) My counselor struggles with this... he always wakes up at 4 (this doesn't make it ok or anything - just an anecdote).
3) Something that works for me is the 100mg Traz and then 10mg Ambien. I know Ambien is supposed to help you fall asleep, not stay asleep, but it does that for me. And no, I'm not taking Ambien CR. Anyway, could be something you ask your pdoc?

Take care!

Let us know what the doc says. I was even given Seroquel to knock me out. I thought that was too extreme, but my pdoc was terrified that I would have a full-blown manic attack. I got rid of him later, thank goodness.

Have you tried melatonin? When I take that I have a cozy night of sleep and wake up at seven feeling well rested.

I hope you're able to get some good sleep soon!

Surroundings can affect it too. Is your room a comfortable temperature? Lights and electronics off? Have you ever tried relaxation techniques and breathing exercises? I would try those first before medication but it's up to you

I've found that keeping my room cool and very very dark helps me stay asleep longer. Still have days where I wake up after 4 hours but over all it much better.

When this happens to me a take my PRN benzo (Xanax). I also take saphris at night and a pretty large dose. I'm going through some personal trauma right now and the past few nights I've been drinking. Best sleep I've had in months lol. No I don't condone drinking until you pass out, but I'm pretty desperate for unconsciousness lately.

As an ex addict I was skeptical when doc put me on Ambien but it works and I haven't abused it.

I've found that Ambien or Saphris both work pretty well.
