Now I officially HATE my pdoc.

Before, I used to think he was a lousy d*ck. He did a lot of questionable things with my medication and treatment.

Now today he said he was going to send me my patient records to my email (even though I specifically said I wanted to pick them up). Well, he sent them to the WRONG email! He made a typo in the email address, then sent it. What sucks about it is, my email address is my initials, followed by "728". So, if my initials were ABC, then the email would be abc728@gmail.com. There's no way to unsend it either!

So, my name, DOB, home address, personal health records, doctors' names, work history, and education were sent to somebody else!

Stupid @sshole.

BTW, after thinking about it for a while, I'm not too concerned about it.

You can find my full name, my address, my relatives' names, DOB, and phone number on WhitePages.com anyways. (Everyone is on WhitePages!) Then you can find my educational background and work history on LinkedIn, as I made it public. So, I guess it's not really that big of a deal. If you wanted to steal my identity, you could've done it a while ago. *shrugs*

The only thing I haven't made public is my doctors' names, as well as my bipolar, ADHD, GAD, and OCD diagnoses. But, I don't know what you could really do with that information. *shrugs* I also doubt someone is going to steal my info anyways. Most people would just ignore the email. (Well, they may read it, but they probably won't do anything with the info.)

I just think my pdoc sucks! Moron!

Maybe the email he sent it to isn't even In use. But yeah that was a dumb move!

I'm so sorry!!! This sounds like an extreme violation of your rights and could be a legal matter if the address was in use and someone received this information. I so, so sorry.

As a side note, this is a prime reason I don't feel I should be in charge of anything serious. I make mistakes in the regular, regardless of how closely I pay attention. I could see myself making this kind of mistake. I did something similar and scary before. It should have been easily caught by our shipping department but it wasn't and it created a big to-do around the office. I feel bad for you most of all, but I also feel bad for your doctor. They probably don't mean to be so pathetic.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, I hope it's not in use.

But, like I said, I thought about it and I don't think anyone could really do anything useful with my information. It's not like they have my credit card and social security number. Plus, I just checked and apparently my home address is spelled completely wrong anyways. lol.

I don't think I really trust my pdoc anymore, though... Idiot.

If some Random gained access to my personal psychiatric information, I'd be seriously upset. I think you are taking this very well. I don't blame you for not trusting him and it sounds like you already had pre-existing issues anyways. Will you find a new PDOC now?
Thanks for this!

I know he violated HIPPA, but I don't think I'd take legal action. I'd basically be complaining about disclosing information that is freely available. (I mean, I do have a valid case, but I don't think it's worth the trouble.)

But yeah, I make mistakes too, so I know where you're coming from. My attention to detail sucks!

I was really upset at first, but then I realized that the person who got my email is probably like "lol WTF is this sh**?" I doubt they'd post my diagnoses on the internet, and they probably don't even care.

Now they know I'm crazy and to stay away from me.

I'm going to get a new pdoc, though. He's done A LOT of stupid crap, and this is the straw that broke the camel's back.

This all sucks but I agree no one is going to do anything with the info. They probably are thinking that someone really screwed up to send that **** to them incorrectly. And that's assuming it's a valid e-mail.
You've got the right attitude not to get hysterical. But it IS time to find a new pdoc.

Yeah, I'm in the process of looking for one. (Well, I have been for some time.) The problem is that a lot of them don't accept my insurance, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. :/

Yep, it's unfortunately a valid email address. I tried to register it and it said it was already taken. Oh well.

My insurance is not the best either, so I totally get it
