This might be a little off topic, but I was wondering if we could exchange TV series & documentary ideas.
![]() When I'm depressed and bored, I find myself dwelling on a lot of negative things. So, if I'm able to distract myself with something interesting, it helps me a lot. I have Netflix, so most TV shows and documentaries are on there. I'm pretty much open to watching anything. I just don't want anything terribly depressing... because that doesn't really help. lol. Some TV series I've watched (or tried watching):
I've heard that Ruby Rose is in Orange Is The New Black (OITNB), and she has bipolar disorder (in real life), so that might be kinda cool to watch. Has anyone seen that? |

The Americans. Go in nothing nothing.
Madame Secretary. Not sure if it's on Netflix, but My Mad Fat Diary. OITNB is awesome, as the seasons progress, so does it. I really enjoy Girls, it's on HBOgo, which is really not that expensive. They are all stark raving mad. Outlander. The Honourable Woman. House of Cards. I loved Breaking Bad and I love Walking Dead, but I really prefer a strong female leads. That's what I've listed. TV is my #1 Rx. If you read, my all time favorite bipolar character is in Let the Great World Spin. I gave the book to my pdoc. He never read it. Or gave it back.

I love OITNB. It's not for everyone, but if it clicks for you, I'd recommend it.
I can recommend a movie with my full endorsement: Special Correspondents. It's a Netflix original and is really funny. It's pretty new. here is a list of series I like that are in Netflix. Lillehammer (funny) Derek (funny) Rita (Danish so in subtitles. Funny with a serious side) An Idiot Abroad (so funny) La Promesa (Spanish so in subtitles, intense, serious drama) Grace and Frankie (cute, funny, has a serious side) How to get away with murder (drama) Ripper Street (drama) Cuckoo (funny) |

Breaking bad, game of thrones, the wire, sons of anarchy, better call saul, always sunny in philadephia, workaholics, south park, key n peele.... Many more, but those are all amazing. i like comedy central a lot for laughs and good stand-up comedians. Lately CC hasn't been as good though. A bunch of new dumb shows and noah+wilmore do not come close to stewert and colbert.

My favorite show, Supernatural, is on Netflix.
Other shows I've enjoyed on Netflix include Bones, Dexter, Prison Break, Melissa and Joey, Last Man Standing, and Fuller House. OITNB is also decent. Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk |

Supernatural is fabulous! I've watched it live since the beginning. I bought the first few seasons on DVDs. If you like supernatural stuff, it's definately for you.

Haha, guess who just ran over to the library site looking for a bunch of these?
![]() Bluebicycle, I so agree on Sherlock! Great stuff. I found The Walking Dead kind of boring too. Got better season 3 on, but...) How about...(tv series, comedy catagory ![]() * Community (though season 6 is weak) * The IT Crowd * Black Books * The Mighty Boosh * Arrested Development * Father Ted * My Hero * Big Train * 30 Rock (first few seasons especially. We're watching it now.) * League of Gentlemen (Mark Gatiss played Sherlock's brother btw) * Wilfred (I love it. Jason Gann is great. But I need to give it a qualified recommendation since the series starts with a sui attempt. They handle it with deft black humor though. But honestly, it's a very good show. Very funny. Stick with seasons 1-3 for your purposes. Season 4 gets dark.) Drama, (but Walter is hilarious) * Fringe Those are what come to mind right away. Nothing current, you've probably see them already, but they're my favorites. And great stuff knows no time. ![]() |

I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan. I read the books years back so it's always a blast to watch it with people who don't have a clue what's going to happen. Now the series is catching up with the books and some storylines are changed / new altogether so this season I'm seeing some unexpected things too.
Other shows I enjoy: Vikings House of Cards Penny Dreadful Face Off Stargate Atlantis The Tudors Weeds Welcome to Sweden Real Humans I also love watching documentaries, especially history, archeology and the like. Also travel shows. I love the ones done by Anthony Bordain, An Idiot Abroad and The Long Way Round / Down.

I all else fails, there is always The Mary Tyler Moore Show (but you have to have the DVDs to watch).

Yes to the Secret Life of the MD. I believe they edited out, oh he's big all over the world but not in the US even though he actually lives in LA, Robbie Williams- they did a big piece on him but cut it from the DVD. You can download it though, if you do that sort of thing, and of course I do.
I love Game of Thrones, but as this started with the depressive and not manic swing, I did not recommend it. It's not good for depression. Not at all! Go back! Go back! Lol, but seriously, sometimes crying at a TV is good for depression. And they do take down bad guys, but man, they take down good guys and animals a lot. And by guys, I mean people. NO ONE IS SAFE!

It's a good show, high quality and epic and I watched a lot of it. YBut I had to do it bit by bit. The sadism and treatment of women were very difficult to take, but for me personally, it was another aspect of the show that triggered the hell out of me (on a non-BP issue). I just couldn't take it anymore. (But I did have to at least make it to one murder I'd have gone through the screen to do myself were it possible! I won't spoiler, but the "who" should be incredibly obvious. Also, I'm a fan of medieval things and love a good swordfight, so it's not even the violence.) Anyhow, that's all to say that I agree (and why) with Dontspeak's "approach with caution" advice. Or, "Go back! Go back!" Aaaaaand, going back to comedy, another funny has come to mind: Eddie Izzard stand up |

Yes Eddie Izzard! I find him so attractive in platforms and make-up, but not as a man in a suit.
Speaking of sadistic GoT bastards, of course! The British Show- The Misfits! So good!
