Whenever I make tacos, my sister and dad complain about the meat, saying "it has no flavor". Their idea of "flavor" involves adding ketchup to the meat.

First of all, I hate ketchup. (Sorry, ketchup lovers.) Second of all, I think it's weird to add ketchup to your tacos.

Nevertheless, my dad and sister insist it's "normal" to add ketchup. Is this really a thing? Last I checked, it wasn't!

Do you do any weird things like that? For example, maybe dip your Oreos in mustard or mix Jello with cottage cheese. (FYI I don't actually do that.)

Yeah index cards are pretty good

I also like licking the cookbook pages which have a lot of food pictures. It lets me "mentally taste" the food in advance -- sort of like a "try before you buy" scenario

ketchup on tacos?! that sound nasty as all hell.

tacos with flavor have some heat to them. gotta add some fresh habaneros to the mix, spice things up a bit.

Live crickets and white roaches count??. Guilty as charged.
Blame it on the Mexicans. It's an Indian ritual. Piri in front row.
They are not that tasty, since you can't use chile. But the tingling...Humm Yummy!!!.

A whole eggplant, roasted over fire very slowly, until all the skin is burned. Let cool, and peel off the skin. Mix the eggplant with oil and salt. Add some chopped raw onions and tomatoes. Eat on challah, rye, or crackers. An old Romanian favorite!

well, i wouldn't say it was a recipe (well, it's not)
but i like eating roast dinner on sunday, and for each of the meats (lamb, chicken, pork etc), their's a diffrent sauce that goes with it.

no matter what meat i have, i always put mint sauce on it (meant for roast chicken), and people think that's strange- because if it goes on other meats it does not really belong

I don't think that's too strange

I don't like mint on my meat, but Indian food has a lot of mint dishes with different kinds of meat. The only meat they don't eat is pork. Not sure about beef...

Blood pudding (or Black Pudding as it's also known) fried with eggs and lingonberry jam. It's one of my favorite things.

My mom made homemade syrup adding white granulated sugar and brown sugar to water and cooking it down. Mom and my sisters still prefer the homemade syrup but I have developed a taste for Aunt Jemima.

Crush saltine crackers in a bowl. Add bits of cheese. Pour a bit of salad dressing in (ranch or thousand island). Mix. Eat. Grew up poor.

Love love love challah one of the best tasting breads ever. (Zaidie's challah if you can get it where you live)
Also makes the best french toast you'll ever have.

That's accually very appealing to me. What's the recipe?

Ketchup in the toco meat? Not so appealing.

I'm a ketchup person but I don't think I'd put it in tacos.

Where I'm from, we put ketchup on French toast - I've horrified many a brunch-mate with this combo. I didn't realize you're 'supposed to' use maple syrup!! I thought that was just for pancakes.

Here is a strange one.
I like to mix sour cream with cottage cheese and cucumber sliced into small pieces.
Mix it all together and you have a wonderful summer treat.
Put it in the fridge and let it get nice and cold.
Its very refreshing and tastes great.

I love dipping hot French fries in my chocolate shake. It satisfies the craving for salt and sweet, hot and cold all at once.

The chocolate shake and fries is amazing.

Um, I actually enjoy what they call "the Elvis sandwich". No idea why, but I only make it once and a while.
