I am sleeping okay at this point but my energy has sky rocketed. I went from barely able to walk a mile and a half due to an injured back to walking as much as four miles a day, swimming 60 to 90 min a day and using the elyptical for 30 min. This progress has been within a matter of a week. I did start at a new gym which has me excited though. So msybe it is okay. If I am starting an episode, how do I stop it before it starts cause sleep issues?

It may not cause sleep issues. My hypomania is mild enough that I sleep in spite of it (sometimes first falling asleep is difficult because of the racing thoughts, but I do eventually sleep a normal amount). I wouldn't be concerned about it being a "hypomanic episode" unless you have racing thoughts, talking too much/ too fast, or agitation or anger.

I have anger issues always talk to much so not enough of a symptom, lol. I am working on them though. I am not having racing thoughts so that is good. I am just concerned because my brother said something about it to me. Last time I exercised this much it ended really poorly a month later as my sleep deteriorated down to 2 or 3 hrs a night. Thank you for responding.

Can you back off the exercise to do more like 30-60 minutes a day? I sometimes feel like too much exercise exacerbates my hypomania, too.

Make sure you are getting enough sleep. That's another symptom to look for. And also make sure you are responsible with spending and sex, two other behavioral symptoms to keep an eye on.

Too much exercise spins up my hypomania very fast. It's a huge trigger, I have to be very careful with exercise. Can you decide on a reasonable amount and stick to it? Have someone help you figure out what a reasonable amount is because if you're hypomanic you might think 5 hours of cardio is reasonable.
