Thanks wild coyote!

An IOP would be great for me, but totally impossible for me to do. Work full time, being a mom, just general business. Everyone needs me to keep on going. I don't have time to get myself better.

But yeah, going to try ap for now.

Just dropped into this thread. Read about your struggles raspberrytorte. Just want you to know I am thinking of you and am sending you BIG hugs. How soon can you get an AP, sounds like you need relief ASAP! I am so sorry you are going through this. If you find yourself making plans it is time to go to hospital despite the cost and inconvenience. Take care.

I don't know. I'm going to look into it though. Thank you.

You all are being so nice to me. Thank you. I don't feel like I deserve it. I've been so erratic and awful lately.

Feeling more suicidal than I felt yesterday. My husband is holding my meds for me.

I fear this will be the end of my cycling and I'll be stuck depressed.

I slept two hours last night. Today is going to be awful. I'm dealing with it.

You guys are being so nice to me it's making me emotional.

For APs I've been on:
abilify
seroquel
haldol
geodon

And there's gotta be another one. I couldn't tolerate any of them.

I'm sort of out of AP options.

Hence invega.

Can you afford to just buy one months supply if Invega and use it just to get through this episode? Often we just need a big dose of AP for a week or two to knock the mania/mixed on its head.

Other AP: Latuda

There's a Latuda card that makes your copay $15

It sucks for mania, but it's amazing for depression and had 0 side effects except for possible akathisia (which you can take meds for) and possibly increasing your cholesterol... But the cholesterol thing is so rare

Sadly I can't afford latuda. Even with that savings card it's $95 a month.

Latuda card:

The Latuda card reads something like a co-pay for as little as $15.00 per month. It will pay up to $125.00 of a co-pay (for privately insured only).

When all is said and done, the Latuda costs over $1200.00 for 30 tabs at 20 mg. Insurance co-pays are negotiated by insurances. My co-pay was over $50.00, even after the $125.-- discount was applied to my co-pay.

I am not sure who is getting it for $15.00.
I have CareMark for med coverage and they are a huge company and should have a great rate negotiated with the company/manufacturer.

People on Medicare/Medicaid or other government types of insurance cannot use the discount card at all!

Even with coverage, my doctor is helping by getting some samples to help offset my costs as we increase the dose.

WC

P.S. I think it's "criminal" and hate to use it at all. However, so far, nothing else has worked and/or I cannot tolerate other meds. So I am btw a rock and a hard place, aka a rock and a rock. I honestly would rather not be involved with Latuda at all simply because I feel these types of rates are truly "criminal."
I feel some of these companies are taking advantage of people.
I know about the need to raise money for research and more. Yet, this high of a price for people who need the med so much?
Just does not seem "morally" correct, even if "legal."

It's just ridiculous how much these meds cost for me.

APs are so expensive.

I don't understand.

If we lost our insurance I'm pretty sure generic lamictal would be about thirty dollars!

Your Ignorance was awaken 10 minutes ago by a call from His mother in law to His wife's phone.
I knew the day was not good from the get go. And now I see you thread. Back to sleep?.
No. We need to find a solution to this situation.

My experience is that benzos, as terrible as they are, give an I-Don't-give-a-**** sensation.
Of course, that's a band aid for a big gash, but better than nothing. Good for meantime.
Another suggestion will be to tell your shrink to specify Lamictal instead of Lamotrigine.
If is written in the Rx, the ins co will pay for it. Many people swear by it. And it has proven different (for the better) in epileptic pacients.

The thinking machinery is slow at this time, but working nevertheless. Will update when more ideas flow.
Be safe. Help is on the way.

If latuda would keep you out of the hospital ( which is very expensive) then I think I would make that a priority if it were me. You could get a months supply and try it , it may not work for you but at least you gave it a go.
keep posting, we are listening.

Ohhh... speaking of which...

Raspberry, you can totally get free samples of Latuda. Same with Vraylar and other brand-name meds which don't have generics.

If your pdoc is nice enough, she can give you some. My pdoc gave me 1 month's supply of Latuda for free when I first started it.

To be honest, worse than yesterday. Physically I feel weighed down. I have work at one! I don't know how I'm going to do it, and it's good my husband took all my meds.

I'll deal with it though.

I have blue cross as well, I'm sure it is probably a different plan though. They would not cover invega either which was what my pdoc wanted to put me on. We had to try risperdal first. I don't know if you have tried that before. I think invega is supposed to be a derivative of risperdal (respridone) They also cover the generic for lamictal (lamotrigine).they do not cover my mental health visits though because my providers are not though a State run agency or in their network. The risperdal has definitely helped with the suicidal ideation.
