So, since I was diagnosed last June, I've really tried to see if I notice when I'm hypo-manic or manic. I think I'm hypo-manic right now. I'm getting tons of things done, etc. I'm so irritable right now too! Grrrr! I'm not euphoric however while being on meds (dang it!). The one thing I'm noticing is that I feel like my blood pressure is up. My head is pounding, my heart is racing. I was up practically all night even though I take enough sleep medicine to put most people into coma! I feel extremely hot too. Anyone else experience these physical side effects while Hypo-manic or manic? If not, do you have different ones?

Yes, all of them. When I was manic and IP, my blood pressure was 168/98 which is really high for me since I'm usually in the normal 120/80 range. I also feel very strong and fit. In fact, I think I am stronger when manic. Also, I feel like I have upper drugs running through my veins.

Forgot to say I have the vibrating inside too. In fact I just IM'd my DH all this and told him I have the "electric pulse" again along with the other symptoms. That is what I call the vibrating internally feeling.

Glad I'm not alone in this. It makes me sad because now I'm dreading "the drop".

I feel like I might have a heart attack. Is it sad, that I don't care, I just don't want to suffer with it though.

When I was in the hospital, I was sure I was going to die. They all acted very concerned about my blood pressure but didn't do much. Well, they gave me lots of Ativan, ambien, seroquel, Risperidone but none of them brought me down or reduced my blood pressure. It was maddening. My body felt so wrong and I felt like I could control it if I concentrated hard enough but nothing, including enough drugs for an elephant helped. I hope you find something to help you. (((Hugs)))

Yes, I can relate to these symptoms, especially the heart racing, it makes me feel like I'm having a heart attack.

It is relieving to know I'm not alone, however this still SUCKS!!!! Nothing is helping. I've taken Xanax, Proprananol, etc. I'm nauseous too. I'm so over it!

I feel like I've been in a hypomanic state for weeks now based on what everyone is saying.

My heart goes out to all.

I am in a weird mixed episode. Hypomanic. Dysphoric mostly, some euphoria now and then.

I am very agitated and very sleep-deprived.
It's been going on for several weeks now.

Sounds are so LOUD. Wow.

I have medical conditions, with severe chronic pain, which gets much worse without sleep, too. It's all getting out of control due to the lack of sleep.

My body is so fatigued and in so much pain, and my mind keeps on going and going and going. My mind isn't obsessing, it's very interested in everything and finds too much quite fascinating.

People do not talk fast enough and it's frustrating to listen. (I am usually so calm, and patient, esp about "listening," this is just so odd.)

It feels like everyone around me talks and does everything in "slow motion."

I take enough meds to euthanize a horse and I sleep an hour each 24 hours. My doc and I have been trying different meds and strategies and it's not been successful. I take so many meds at night, the doctors are afraid to give me any more at night. They don't work for me right now. (I am not worried or obsessing. If I force myself to stay in bed, I stare at the walls or into the darkness without any worry. None. If I have thoughts in the dark, they are creative in nature, interesting. I welcome sleep and a mood shift.)

I start to get tired and then I get a second wind, a third wind, a fourth wind, a fifth wind, and on and on it goes -- for days and weeks, now 6 weeks.

I am very hungry. I am very, very thirsty.

I am craving alcohol, which is very strange. I have never craved alcohol before in my life, ever. No. I won't mix it in with these meds.

Yes, hot, vibrations, heart racing -- and more.

Hope everyone feels better soon!

My heart races when I'm hypo/manic, and I tend to lose my appetite. I'm too active or preoccupied to even think about food. When paranoia or that unsettling feeling I get when manic or have dysphoric mania sets in, I get a pit in my stomach. It's not uncommon for me to get shaky. There's sort of a buzzing in my head and noises are much louder than usual during those times. All my senses are heightened.

I did finally get some sleep last night. I didn't feel the "electric pulse" or "humming" feeling. I still feel a bit hot and a headache. I'm hoping this means it's starting to end. It's been about two weeks of the hypo-mania. I'm hoping the irritability will start lessening now too. Like I said, with meds, I don't have the euphoria that would normally be there. Also, now I'm hoping the drop won't be too bad. The depression part of things can be awful too. I told my husband about this thread. He was totally fascinated that most of us on this thread describe the same similar physical sensations. I'm glad I'm not alone in these feelings. Thanks

Last time I was (presumably) hypomanic my heart was going so crazy - I actually had an abnormal EKG. Got more tests done and everything was fine, but it was scary. I think part of it was from not really eating or sleeping much and then drinking alcohol and working out (I randomly started boxing then).

I also get something that feels like butterflies in my stomach when up - sort of a nervous hyperactive feeling in my gut.

I just do not know. It's so confusing.
I have NEVER gone through this severe an "episode" before.

I slept an hour last night, even with increased meds.
I get tired and frustrated and cranky... on edge. Look out!

My body has not given out, but it cannot keep up with the energy of my mind.

I needed to do a lot today. I cannot believe the speed and ease with which I can do everything today. I am zipping through stuff I may never be able to do again, simply because there are times when it's beyond my comprehension, but today it's so incredibly easy. I know what to do and how to do it without reservation, including tasks I have never done before. Nothing gives me pause. My mind is seamlessly zipping along at an IQ I cannot always access. It's strange and fun -- and sad because I know that by tomorrow, I will have no idea of how I did some of what I did. Good thing I took notes.

My emotions are all over the place, I am easily distracted when I try to read or focus. Noises are distorted. I cannot hear anyone on the phone well today, no matter what I try to help the auditory reception.

Docs are changing meds around tonight. Moving some meds to different times and adding Ambien, in hopes I get some sleep. Yes, the elusive sleep.
At this point, I am hoping the changes are not permanent. I am not feeling like "me" because of the level of agitation. I am right on the edge of "something very unpleasant." I have been isolating due to the level of agitation, hoping it will go away.

I am hoping some sleep will help to break the cycle. Please.

I hope to sleep tonight!

May we all rest peacefully tonight!
