Just waited thirty minutes while crying to talk to crisis counselor because these fireworks are really getting to me! PTSD is a *****!

Trigger-------

They're nonstop in this city where I'm dog sitting this week. NONSTOP NONSTOP NONSTOP!

I'm panicking. I took Ativan and it's slowly helping.

They sound like gunfire and I see bad memory of her holding and shooting gun and always threatening to kill me.

I'm scared she'll come one day. The tv isn't loud enough to block them out.

I'm with you. I can't handle them. Last night they went on for easily 75 minutes and tonight again for 30. They get my PTSD and also disrupt my need for quiet, especially at night. I have several more days to get through.

I'm glad you called the crisis line and got some help.

Does it help at all to actually be watching them go off so you aren't just hearing them? Just wondering if actually having the visual would help. (I realize it is too late to help tonight.) When I watch a controlled fireworks display, I can see the firework as it is set off so that sound isn't really so surprising.

I understand. So am I. We didn't go to the town firework display this year and I am noticing it bothers me more to just hear them. Watching the display doesn't really bother me at all because they are really awesome to watch. Perhaps in the future you might think about actually attending a controlled, professional display. It might be a completely different experience.

Sorry to hear that fireworks are doing this to you. Hopefully the fireworks end by midnight.

I can't even sleep because they're so loud. I can't see them either, and they make me panic sometimes. Stupid things! Sometimes the neighbors across the street will shoot them off on random days, too. That's especially annoying.
