Has anyone else quit this med cold turkey before? Honestly I'm done with side effects and have decided to branch out med free completely.

I had 2 seizure like things when taking Abilify last year. I quit cold turkey after the second one. I didn't experience withdrawals. I was on the med a few months.

I'm so sorry you experienced such a bad side effect. (((Hugs)))

I think it is dangerous to quit meds entirely if you are, in fact, bipolar. It is also dangerous to quit a medication cold turkey without the assistance of a doctor. I would talk to your doctor about weaning off safely. I am concerned about your physical safety and mental health. If you have to get off the medication and can't talk to your doctor about it, can you gradually taper off? Wishing you the best!

Jmo, but I just don't think it's wise to go med free for us Jacky. I got horrible akathisia from latuda and I stopped that, but you can find some other meds to help you.

Why do you want to go med free?

Ask your Pdoc for a taper schedule and that you want to start over fresh after your body gets a break from the Toxic pills.

A thing to keep in mind , it took X amount of time for the meds to start working and it will take X amount of time to get that med out of your systm and your brain chemistry back to "pre med" I think half life for abilify is 90 something hours, but again it takes time for your brain to function on it's own. When I dropped Lithium... Took me lil over 2 months to actually feeling back to normal-ish.

I went cold turkey off a ton of psych meds and didnt have a hiccup, But Lithium ? Holy shyt that was hellish.

Whatever you decide to do stay safe

Fibromyalgia is caused by extremely overactive nerves sending pain receptors to hell and back, benzodiazepines and muscle relaxers can offer a small bit of relief at times.

Yes Jacky I do .. But it can be a hell of a ride , Lots of white knuckles.. But I was sick of the side effects and being a zombie to me wasn't a life.

If I really get bad I will go on something for a few weeks or a month but no longer than that.
