My sleeping schedule is all messed up because I'm on a business trip in Europe. I'm 6 hours ahead of my normal time.

I've forgotten to take my Abilify for 3 days in a row now, and I'm certain that my messed-up sleeping schedule is mostly to blame for my forgetfulness. (I'm often really tired when I wake up, which means I'm not exactly functioning properly!)

I had started taking Abilify again because my depression was just godawful, but I took it without my pdoc's knowledge because he was on vacation and his stupid office wouldn't let me talk to him. (Long story.) Fortunately, though, I was eventually able to get in contact with my pdoc, and he said he's fine with me taking it as long as I'm feeling okay on it. (I needed SOMETHING for my business trip, so I gave in and took Abilify again.)

But yeah, I don't like to take Abilify at night because it keeps me awake, and unfortunately, I didn't realize until midday today that I forgot to take my Abilify for the past 3 days! But it was too late to take Abilify by then because I was already at work and didn't have it on me. boooo.

I don't have this problem with night meds (Lexapro, Lamictal, etc.). I seem to take those on time.. It's just those morning meds...

How often do you forget to take your meds? Can anyone relate?

I forget to take meds at noon almost every day. I don't usually remember until about 4:00 pm.
You would think it be easy to remember if they affect the way you feel without them!

Get you one of them pill organizers with the alarms on them. That's what I had to do, got mine at Walgreens. I have all the awareness of a cinder block when I first wake up so the alarm is pretty much a must or I would always forget my morning pills.

Wow. Thinking about that. I'm pretty sure I forgot to take my meds this morning.

A pill box/organizer and a phone app to remind myself makes it pretty difficult to forget

I don't have the excuse of jet lag to blame and I forget the morning meds all the time. It's just recently that this started so I don't know why it's happening. I've also recently absently taken my night meds in the morning. I have a pill box. But I've been waking up tired too so maybe that why. In any case I feel for you.

Maybe you can put them in your daily bag so if you forget in the morning before leaving for the conferences they are with you so you can take them when you remember?

I was going to add this but didn't really know how so I just made a different post. Anyway I take a lot of meds that are for physical illnesses, not just bipolar disorder. That pill organizer has helped with this too because sometimes I cant remember if I took my pills or not and would then take the darn things twice.

With some of those pills I take its probably not a good idea to take double the amount. Like the lisinopril to lower my blood pressure. Probably not the best idea to OD myself on that one LOL. It is organized by days of the week and I can just look at it and know if I took the pills or not. It pretty much keeps me from forgetting or ODing myself LOL.

I have phone reminders but sometimes I blow them off. Not really helpful. It's usually in the afternoon that I forget. I've been getting better now that I'm on a different med regime. The afternoon med lowers some of the anxiety that I have been having.

Me too. I just moved all of mine to night. My gp wanted me to take some in the a.m. to make it easier on my liver. But i think im doing better overall this way, so ultimately that should make it easier on my liver. If i live that long!

I have this thing on my iPhone that sends me a text message every morning and evening to remind me to take my meds.

Yeah, same here -- I blow off my phone reminders. I'm my own worst enemy!

Really?? I'll have to look into that. I have an iPhone too. What's that app or feature called?

I had this problem a lot. I put my meds in a pill organizer now and I set alarms on my phone calendar so that every day at the same time I get a notification that it's time for whatever med. it seems to help if I forget on my own.

Check out moodtracker.com, that's where I got the med reminder thing. It sends me text messages when it's time.
